After 10 years in an office I’m thinking about getting into trucking. I’ve read that Stobarts run a training scheme where you get your cat C+E licence and a job interview at a depot for just over £2k.
Is that to good to be true and had anybody gone through or going through that?
Have a look on other threads for the best places mate I would post a link but I really don’t know how lol . Peter symthe seems to be very good and at a reasonable price.

I’d go for it with them at the end of the day when you pass you get a job plus their prices are competitive

Yep, you can then be tied into a job that you really hate!
It’s a simple as this pal, you pay for it yourself and you keep hold of your own testicles, work isn’t hard to find…

Your not tied in as you pay for it yourself you can leave like any other job
When you leave, you have to pay for your 2 day induction which counts as two DCPC modules, and your uniform as well (even though you hand it back). £105 per day induction and £105 for your uniform. A cool £315.00, nice.
I think it’s 12 months you have to work there to avoid paying the full cost back. Oh and you get dry shafted all week too.
So Beezle is in fact correct when he suggests that they own you for a while. Enjoy…

You don’t have to pay for induction anymore as it’s not cpc credited anymore I know as I’ve just done it as for uniform can’t comment on that
I think you’ll find it’s £2880.00inc vat for C+E. (Which in my mind is £120.00 short of £3K not £2k) I got a quote from Peter Smithe the other day for just a little more (I’ve had medical, hazzard perception & multiple choice) and the flexibility to work for whoever you want.

It changed from 1 September that is when I started you don’t get credited cpc anymore so they can’t charge you for it

You don’t have to accept job with them they are just a driving school if you’ve paid for it they can’t tie you in to anything

Someone comes on here asking for advice I’ve done the scheme done the induction left the company and didn’t have to pay a penny so many people seem to know a lot about it but never did the scheme or the induction where as I have that’s how I’m so knowledgeable

Ha ha that made me laugh, got info off Eddies website. If it’s not up to date then he’s possibly stuck for coders as well.
I understand that Pertemps do a scheme as well…not sure on what you pay upfront if at all but heard that you have to work for them for two years afterwards.
Again what does this mean in actual work do they own you and dictate their terms??
If you can afford the £3.5 grand or so then pay your way, set up a ltd company so when you start working and cover those costs so you wont have any tax as its an expense.
Plus as you earn £500-£800 per week then working for just 7 weeks has paid for the training so the cost benefit exercise is a no brainer…

Yes you can GROSS those figures, but boy will you probably have to put in the hours…
(Just saying that to ensure Newbie’s don’t think the roads of truck driving are paved with gold mate!)
