Stobart running .Another strike?

Juddian:
I don’t think any animosity is directed at the drivers, as with every company there’s good bad and indifferent, and all they’re doing is earning a crust same as any of us.

Except mark dixon :exclamation:

I’ll have to check at work about this, I’m not saying no to another £25 per week. That’s a sesh in the pub!

Is this 1991 ?

No, have you ever been Doncaster town centre? £2 per pint in Wetherspoons, 10 pints and the bus home, job done! :grimacing:

" Meal allowance is going up a fiver ". Do you know why Dozy?

It’s to pay for all the admin costs for the cards that you will end up with. The card which will enable your meal purchase.

Because according to my sources (which haven’t been wrong yet), the ’ cash ’ meal allowance is soon coming to an end. And your super duper new £20 a day meal allowance will be EXACTLY that. A meal allowance.

Enjoy getting fat mate!

Not what i heard its not changing and its not going up.Also i have not heard anything about a card system and its staying cash.I think your source maybe wrong and thats from the drivers rep i spoke to who is not long back from the meeting they had down south.

Maybe it was put forward as a proposal Col?

It will be interesting to see what happens.

If they made the ‘meal allowance’ an actual meal allowance, they would be knocking £3600 off every drivers wage!!

The thing is though, Stobart’s use the meal allowance to ‘boost’ wages. Tax free incentives are something that HMRC are having a good look at currently. The meal allowance is exactly what it says on the tin.

HMRC have told NOVA(umbrella firm I was with recently), that meal receipts MUST BE PROVIDED in order to claim meal allowance.

It’s not beyond the realm of reality that Stobart employees could well end up doing the same.

They can take it if they want i wont be here much longer. Was speaking to a guy who has a contract running airplane engines to boeing/airbus in Toulouse just waiting to see what happens.

Good luck with it mate.

If someone went to a tabloid with a Stobart payslip showing £75pw of tax free meal allowance given no questions asked without any receipts, I reckon there would be an unroar. Reckon MP’s would get away with it?

The legislation is here: gov.uk/expenses-benefits-me … s/overview

Don’t see how the Stobart arrangement is totally above board from looking at this.
