Fair point. I was going off the CM page and it was a wee bit TOO obvious!

My phone comes with a special function to deal with this , it stops all calls from interrupting you when ever or where ever you like, its called an OFF button !

The iPhone has a do not disturb mode.

Blocks any calls aside from numbers YOU add to the list, or you can set it so it will ring if the same number tries to ring you 3 times in a row, probably because it’d be an urgent call.

If mine rings while on DND mode I wouldn’t be too happy to find out it wasn’t an emergency, but worthwhile looking into if you’re an apple user.

To all you ‘old school’ boys who disagree with this.

As your all aware, the hours are long and the pay is poor. I continue to hear operators whinging about how poor they are and why they can’t pay much, yet still driving their big cars and allowing their wives to book numerous family holidays.

“Times are a changing” no longer is the hairy arsed lorry driver the underdog. Good on these boys I say.

The case didn’t involve a call from work to the driver.

The drivers were required to make calls (sometimes several) during their rest period, to find out when they were wanted back at work. This means the drivers were not free to dispose of their time during their rest, which is what’s required under EU legislation.

The situation could have been avoided by better organisation on the employer’s part. ie we will send you a text by (x time) to give you the start time and location of your next shift. You may then if you wish call to confirm details.

“Lack of planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part.”

Seems that they are breaking the law if they do! Looks like a court in Ireland has done drivers a huge favour!

Its been posted a couple of time now, this link is better as it lists the drivers names just to help them out get new jobs.

" Disturbing drivers rest "

Can anyone define a disturbing driver?

NOTE; Dipper Dave is excluded because he is accomplished at this discipline.

My boss has in the last few months been holding back the rota on the Friday evening, for whatever reason I don’t know. But it means you need to phone in on the Sunday to find out your start time. No biggy but still does my box in and things can get lost in “translation” like one coordinator giving you the rota time but another coordinator changing the run so it doesn’t match the rota thus making you look late and the prick saying he told you the amended time over the phone when he didn’t :unamused:

So I asked for my rota time on Friday evening he says phone in on Sunday and I showed him the article on my phone and he piped up straight away and gave me my start time. So I’m no complaining, this can only be a good thing when you work wae complete Fannys behind the desk like I do.

When i was driving for Stobarts if the phone rang it would ring a few times them it would just switch over so the person on the phone could talk to you without you pressing or touching the phone, makes you jump sometime as it don’t even ring but you can hear someone in the cab lol
