at the moment, nothing has changed,or so we were told, now the newer wagons are getting the green wrap 2 or 3 at a time at widnes, and the name STOBART AUTOMOTIVE,the name autologic is still on the other wagons, even though that company is now defunct, although still being used for pod depot purposes etc.
Now lets get something straight them five drivers that are doing the rounds are not idiotic agency lads ,they are highly skilled at what they do,as am i,and a few hundred others, its a bit like the old days, you cant just be given a transporter and a week later deliver £250,000 worth of bmw’s,it takes quite a while to be able to do the job,and believe me i’ve seen the job turn proffessional hgv drivers into jibbering nougats.
So dont get the idea you’ll se the likes of mark dixon jumping into a T.E. EVO5 ELEVEN PLUS and delivering cars instead of baked beans.
Now to the nitty gritty, this industry has been going down hill fast, thanks to poor union practices, and drivers who are selfish and do there own thing to get cars shifted, which for some reason autologic are quite happy to let happen cos lets face it they want as many cars shifted.
When ANSA were part of car council they WERE the car council,i might be wrong here, but, when WALON was in trouble we heard a rumour Stobart tried to buy in then, but the car council were ready to make sure they would,nt get loaded at any new car compound in the country, this mightnot be true then, but it is now,the union are the drivers, and the drivers have been let down by the union not autologic, believe me i’ve seen things happen to drivers by management these days, which they would’nt have done just a few years ago.The deals done,so as far as i,m concerned if T&C stay the same???as has been said the bonus for me is,i might have a decent truck to drive, which believe me i would’nt mind at all.
HELLO , i think delusions of grandure are coming in, car transporters , you have to be having a laugh its finished full of dixons, otherwise
you would,nt be getting so many speeding and leaving for other jobs .

ESL are only doing what Willi Betz did a long time ago anyway, 5 years ago Doncaster services looked more like a Betz transporter depot than an MSA, about the time the ANSA boys were in dispute?

That’s a good point gouls, I wonder how many people know that Willi betz is the biggest car mover in Europe

i think these two sentences just about sum up the state of the whole industry and 70% of drivers probably think the same as you “stick my head in the sand be a good boy and if i am lucky keep my job” and get a nice new green lorry!
by the way have you ever heard of “IGLOO”
cheers steve.
I wasnt aware, but apparently ESL also carry for Asda and Sainsbury’s,although not to the same degree as Tesco’s.
With their large fleet, running empty is a big drain on finances,so I suppose they will carry for anyone…even if they have to ■■■■■ the rate!!

dont tar me with he same brush as them, you’re spot on in what your saying, only its not 70% its more like 85% these drivers will do anything in pursuit of money,i for one am sick and tired of their working practices, but who do you think turns a blind eye to what goes on,not me i see it every day,oh by the way i’ve been accused of being slow, why? because i’m 100% legal,if i work a 15 hour shift theres 2 45min breaks in that shift.
Now yu accuse me of putting my head in the sand,Stobart is a high profile company, what do you think they will do when they find out whats been going on for years,"right lads yer all sacked unless you go onto these terms and conditions"and they’ll still not get it,that it was there own fault, and as far as vehicles go,when you drive a wagon that dos more than its fair share of downtime, you do want a decent one green or not, like i say dont tar me with the same brush a them, rant overbut there are a FEW of us with principles and honesty

hi mate,
didnt mean to get personal but its sad to see whats going to happen, finished with walon a few years ago now but still got loads of mates at purfleet and they all know whats coming whether they will be prepared to fight for what they have or not is debatable.
steve.
well there’s yet another rumor going around autologic… maritime are trying to buy stobarts!! anybody■■?
I ve heard through the grape vine that Emmerdale Haulage have drafted a takeover bid for ESL Charity is just waiting to hear from Jimmy about his shares and its all systems go.
Best one yet, would you risk your “hard earned” and buy Bonds in the “fast eddie” group,5% annual interest,Gold plate gauranteed and the fund is managed by what sounds like an “offshore” organisation !! The main High Street Banks etc aren’t very secure in to-days uncertain World.I wonder if this new “weeze” will go the same way as the “franchsee” offering,I know that if I had to ever shake hands with one of that gang I would count my fingers twice, once before and again afterwards !! Cheers Bewick.
Well said Dennis, My hard earned cash is staying where it is, Under that old matteress , HA,HA, , Only jokeing Ive spent most of it anyway, So the FEG Lot can carry on without my money, & I along with my family will enjoy the dosh that I have got left to spend, & go to town & have a ball whenever we want, Regards Larry PS & A drink or three of course.

The “Lads frae Iceland” got away with it for a few years until the whole pack of cards came crashing down about their ears, and a lot of greedy councils in the UK lost a fortune,no problem though, they just made a “slight” adjustment to the what some of us had to pay in Council tax, simples! Cheers Dennis.
Well Dennis some of us who made good in the haulage game, & may I add enjoyed bloody doing it like thee & me, Deserve to enjoy the years we have got left, , Council tax in my opinion is a blody rip off, The bin men that do our Street dont give a toss, they cant get finished quick enough, They leave stuff on the road that spills out when they have to just push a little button to activate they lift that tips the wheelie bin into the motor. Oh dear what a hard hard task they have, & Of course H&S Approved, Regards Larry.

I shouldn’t have started this Council tax crack Larry as it sends me into orbit, which isn’t good for my old ticker nowadays, but the one thing that gets “right up my ■■■■■■■ hooter” is out of every £1 we pay about 50% of it goes straight to their pensions, well those that have retired as it’s on a “pay as they draw” basis and it’s only going to get worse unfortunately, just imagine how good our services would be if they had their house “put in order” and the Pension contributions were at a sensible level say about 5% of council tax !! It’s the same with the fuel tax,two thirds of what we pay is tax duty and vat,its not the big Oil Cos.fault they are just unpaid tax collectors for the Chancellor, regardless of which Shower happens to be in Government !Sod it I’m gonna pour 'mesel an extra large one and calm 'mesel doon !! Cheers, and many of them,Dennis.
Lets have a decent photo on this thread, the driver that got this 6x2 FL10 new (the late Roy “Bull” Davies) more-or-less knew where the cheapest drams were all over the UK,his CIU membership card was his next most treasured possession to his good lady wife Connie ! But,it was rumoured by some of our lads that if he wasn’t,occaisionally, parked up near a Club he had is own Optic on the back of the cab above the bunk and if one of the Lads happened to be with him he charged “Club” prices, non of that "two for one nonsense !! Cheers Dennis.
