Stobart driver on Wigton to Workington road

I aint happy, my young daughter passed her test 2 days ago.
She has just came in to me in tears saying she pulled out of a junction to join the bypass at Wigton A596 to turn right again further up.
This Stobart truck was approaching at a distance, she saw him and pulled out in good time leaving him plenty of room. (I have told her about giving trucks room because of braking with heavy loads)
The truck came up right behind her just to make a point, and was right on her back bumper at the point of turning right, so much so she panicked and sped up, turned right and nearly hit the high kerb.
Just for good measure he blasted his horns at her unnerving and panicking her even more.
If he had gone over the top of her I would have willinglly done time for murdering the ■■■■■.

I have NEVER been one for reporting or grassing anybody, but I made an exception for this prick, and do not have any qualms about doing so.

I rang Stobart customer sevices the only dept I could get through to, gave the guy the location and time, but told unless I had a fleet or reg no., there was nothing he could do.
I thought they could be retrospectively tracked ffs.

Who knows maybe my daughter pulled out too late who knows, but we are meant to be pro.s ffs in our reactions.

If somebody like me gets ■■■■■■ with truckers ■■■■ poor driving, what chance do we have with the general public.
Btw this has nothing to do with my dislike of Stobarts which I have made of secret of on here in the past…but I am ■■■■ angry.

You probably rang the Appleton number Rob 01925 605400. The knobs in operations(transport) are a handful of arrogant and bone idle tools. One is a short arsed ex TA bellend who thinks he is Steven Seagal. Another makes Johnny Vegas look anorexic. There is a female there who last smiled in 1988.

All they are interested in is 4 digit fleet no or reg. You are summoned into the ops office, and the SD card is pulled from your dashcam and you watch the footage on one of the computers in there with one of the afore mentioned helmets.

If any poor driving is witnessed you may well be disciplined. I had some chancer claiming that I forced them off the road last year whilst driving for Stobart’s, and in doing so this prick claimed he ruined his alloys.

Got very disappointed when Phil(ops manager) phoned the knob saying that he had seen the footage and nothing of the sort happened. The knob didn’t realise all Stobart wagons have dashcams.

Unfortunately mate they won’t help you. (Probably a flip flop agency driver anyway).

Yeh that was the number I rang.
I was about to delete the thread until I noticed I got a response, as it was just a spur of the moment reaction thing to stop myself feeling so ■■■■ mad, by writing it down…it’s meant to be good anger management therapy I am told.

I even considered trying to catch up with him in the car…road rage style  :unamused: but thought better of it.
Anyway I have had a couple of cans of beer so not a good idea…on many levels.

Truck drivers were in the main quite well respected years ago as professional drivers or ’ Knights of the road '. People would ask truck drivers for directions because most would know nearly everywhere in the UK!

Now there are far too many arrogant knobheads who think they are Billy bigballs because they can turn a switch to ’ D ’ and activate CC.
As a kid in my Dad’s truck, artic drivers were Gods!

Now I am amongst these clowns, I see most are not.

As you have declared that you aren’t happy, which of the remaining dwarves are you?

I’m guessing Grumpy.

Family involved has clouded your eyes. No harm done, life goes on.

Yeh you are right mate, but thankfully there are still a lot of good drivers left, both old school and young lads.
Problem is the knobbers tie us all in together as one entity in other road user’s eyes.

Honked:

Wrong guess I’m no8…Arsey

Btw she’s 19 but still my ‘‘little girl’’ that is what clouded my eyes bud.

:open_mouth: :unamused:

Part of the point of trackers is that you can look at what the truck did yesterday, last week, last month. I think ours keep data for a year.

All trackers will keep history of some sort and I’d be surprised if it isn’t a year.

Isotrak stores data at Stobart for 1yr but also stores it for 5yrs at isotrak HQ in Milton Keynes. It pings the trucks location every 5 minutes. I can post some screen shots to see what it looks like it’s not as accurate as you may think because of those 5 minute gaps. Going through every Stobart trucks day on isotrak to see where they where at the moment in time the incident happened would be a big job,but for what? There would be hee haw they could do to the driver without corroboration. You only need to look back at a thread dozy made on how many complaints he got and they done nothing about it.

Stobarts doesn’t run 5 trucks on a tracker, they run 2000+ on a tracker. Would be a whole days work for someone to go through all that.

Yes Stobart driver is a knob for his conduct but you’re daughter does not sound ready for the road if she panics. Recipe for disaster, get her some P plates till she gets some confidence.

Those Isotrak jobbies are a pile of gash Merc. Most of them in the wagons at Appleton don’t even work.

Not ready for the road? You reckon eh?

Mate of course she is not 100% proficient on the road, she only passed her test just over 60 hours ago ffs.

As for confidence… a prick pushing 44 tonnes a foot of your back bumper blasting his ■■■■ horns is not the best recipe for getting confidence is it.

My company uses isotrak aswell eager, I’d say about 25% of our trucks don’t work. When they don’t work they beep like ■■■■ so drivers end up ripping out the wire totally gubbing them.

Im no being funny here mate but that Stobart driver or any driver has no clue about your daughters ability or confidence levels. That is the whole reason behind P plates, to let other road users know you’re fresh out the gates. Infact there is no time limit on P plates a lot of people should use them even years after their test as their standard of driving is poor. I’m in no way defending the Stobart driver here but if the same thing happened to me I wouldn’t give a ■■■■ because I’ve become immune to it. If the same thing happened to you I very much doubt you would have made a thread about it. There are a lot of jackals on the road and that is something your daughter is going to have to get used to.

Probably innapropriate but would you have any pictures of your daughter Rob, perhaps from the neck down, ideally about to go swimming.

Just kidding I have a daughter myself (well 2 if I’m honest) who is absolutely mental behind the wheel, taught her all I knew but it went in one ear out the other. Always worries me if she’s out in her car especially if I’m in mine as she loves to tailgate me and cut me up.
Having a road rage session with me offspring causes no end of gbh of the earole from the wife.

I take your point mate, but the criteria for driving like a complete bullying arrogant 2at or not, should not be depending on whether a car is displaying ‘L’ or ‘P’ plates, and especially if said bullying arrogant 2at is an HGV driver at a supposed professional level.

Oh come on merc. Seriously?
You think it would be ok to drive 44 tonnes a foot off someones bumper if you knew for sure they were “confident on the road”? Im a confident driver but an artic filling your rear view mirror gets the heart going like a moped and creates a nervous situation which leads to crashes. Just because she had no P plates on doesnt make tailgating ok because he assumes they have confidence. Dont you think Stobbies should have presummed its someone low on confidence and held back? Even if she DID cut out in front of him, theres no excuse in the world to justify sitting a foot off someones bumper

It’s never ok to tailgate because of stopping distances but it’s never going to stop without technology or a massive clampdown by police. I’m limited to 52 so it must happen to me several times a day, maybe the odd time in the car when I’m coming off at junction etc. It never gets my heart going. There is nothing I can do about that drivers actions, I don’t freak out, panic or even brake check as this can make things ten times worse. I can only create space in front of me because that’s the only part of the road I control. The point I was trying to make is P plates might have kept this nutter from doing what he done. He might have thought new driver, we’ve all been there I’ll back off and not bully them up the road.

This is what happens when you loose all the good drivers :exclamation: :exclamation:
