im not trying to make any point about folk being uneducated.
its not rocket science to chug about in a truck nowadays.
as soon as your off the ferry, then you and i are foreigners as much as anyone else.
in ee.then its 50 years behind with attitudes to drink driving same as over here in eire.
in the uk,we have had years of being bombarded about how anti social it is and attitudes have turned here somewhat.
the driving standards in some countries are way behind the norm here which is bad enough.but its not the truckies fault for driving to the standards that he has been brought up with.
a truckie is a truckie is a truckie. most of the dweebs in the uk would collapse and die at the thought of 5 drops in madrid even if they could be talked into driving onto the boat.
glass houses,ect

[Sigh]
I’m not suggesting that you were making any such point! My observation was that Woodpecker referred to EE drivers as being “uneducated” while demonstrating his own low level of achievement in the same area…
The main issue is the way of life in EE and difference in mentality (not that British drivers don’t have accidents due to silly decision making). A lot of countries within EE block have political systems that are anti-people, so people have to continuously adapt to fight the system and that fight becomes a permanent part of their mentality - do what YOU think is right and avoid getting caught. It’s not that they are bad people or uneducated or thick, of course they aren’t, mostly good hard working folk, it’s their mentality that is alien to the ‘British way’ that is the issue. Also, migrant workers are probably more motivated by how much they earn in a short space of time and that leads to wrong decisions being made, like their desire to constantly please employers, to be always available for work. I expect most of them have a plan like to find work in UK for 5 years or so, make as much as possible, save most of it and return home to build a house or buy a flat. Of course our dear employers love when a driver is always available and willing to go that extra mile, that’s also the issue, as some have suggested. Sensible drivers know when to say NO.
