Stobart Depots South West Area

We do work for stobarts on the biomass side and they pay more and quicker than the other major player in this field, for doing the same job.!!! To the point now that we will only do work for them and not the others, and normaly have plenty of it :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

Stobart/jenkinsons biomass run out of our yard and our are main haulier as they give the best service. They are also the dearest

If they were providing that good a service then the chilled side would still be thriving,100,s of drivers wouldn’t of lost there jobs, loads of depots wouldn’t be stood idle,zb he’ll even the bosses said they’d made a right bigs ear of it.
And it’s not just the chilled side of things,I could reel a list of disasters off,how the zb he’ll do you fail to pick up 7 loads :exclamation: :exclamation: :exclamation: :exclamation: :exclamation: :exclamation: .
In a lot of things ill stand up for them, but best service,I’m sorry but from where I’m sat its along way from that, but whilst a lot at the top bury there heads and believe it,then contracts will be lost,7 zb loads, criminal  :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp:  :smiling_imp:

Dont know if jenkinsons control the trucks then and ive never had any dealings on the more general side of things but we are very limited on storage for woodchip and if we tell stobart we need 10 loads moving a day its very rare all 10 aint moved when we ask for it wheras other hauliers may move 5 then come out with the lorry broke down etc.
With woodchip depending on the grade we get paid for it or they take it for free and stobart consistently pay less than others but the service is good and very rarely does a load get tejected or degraded compared to other firms.
Personaly im not a stobart hater or fan but just saying how it is for our firms limited dealings with them.

It’s funny how some people can imitate an idiot so well.

Isn’t it ?!!

Stobarts and the like are forcing long standing family run haulage firm out of business with their rate cutting etc.

I think that’s the point Puntabrava was making and if I can understand it surely anyone can.

Its a bit ironic really because if you are looking to prove, or understand that Stobarts are indeed forcing people out of business by their rate cutting the actual fact is Stobarts actually have less depots in the Southwest now than they did ten years ago. If you where really studying it all you’d also notice a growth in EU trucks in the same areas. Now, haulage being a by product of other peoples trading activities should lead you to believe that maybe we aint manufacturing so much and its being imported by truck now instead? Certainly i the case of Stobarts Bridgewater depot all i ever picked up there was Ocean Spray Cranberry juice which i believe is an American product, how it ever got there i’ve no idea. But i’d be fairly certain generations of Southwest hauliers hadn’t been hauling it around for years before Stobarts come on the scene !! Although i’m open to correction.

Oh and their telly programme is a load of tripe, making lorry driving out to be the most difficult job in the world, for Christ sake if they are going to struggle turning the wagon round they ought to pack it in and stack shelves

There’s a few threads on here about the Stobarts TV programmes, i’m suprised you never contributed your views on them there. Besides, as you point out, if its an easy job then its going to be hard to justify a ā€œgood rateā€ as opposed to a ā€œfair rate for the jobā€ ? If lorry driving is easy then its going to be like bog cleaning, thats easy too. Its just a case of finding people to do it. And there’s plenty of people who will do it, even for minimum wage. Stobarts find they don’t need to increase the hourly rate much above the minimum to have a waiting list.
Anyway, how are you and Puntabrava positivley contributing to local generations of business in your own areas/spheres , i’d love to know? Like you guys i’m anti big corporations.

I cant speak for Puntabrava, but I work for a living. I spend my wages where I chose, I buy meat and veg either direct from farmers and local producers. I avoid the high street as best I can simply because I cant be doing with the ball ache factor and the restrictive opening hours. I use Ebay (which you attacked in a different thread) purely for convenience, service etc mainly for electricals and the like. I’m not sure why this is any business of your but you aasked and I’ve nothing to hide.

Good job on the thread hijack, now all the attention is on you, congratulations.

Ah the usual crap again. I wonder if any other firm has ever put another haulier out of business? Gregorys is a big firm. Did they just create their own work? Never won a contact, putting a smaller firm out? Silly me of course not.

Of course not, it’s only Stobarts that have ever undercut anyone to get a job etc …

You wont be so chipper when they take over Georges and look to expand
