Stobart Depots South West Area

puntabrava:
It Is a sad job that they are now intruding like a virus into the veins of England rather than being content with clogging the arteries.

Its an even sadder job,the pile of crap that gets posted on here these days!
Wtf you on about? Its a firm running wagons :grimacing:

Stobart attempted to move into the south-west but ran foul of the local Mafia so they went away.

Its one company killing off in some cases generations of a local haulage business, the ā€˜crap’ is resting in your head and representing itself as a lack of thought.

It’s funny how some people can imitate an idiot so well.

Stobarts and the like are forcing long standing family run haulage firm out of business with their rate cutting etc.

I think that’s the point Puntabrava was making and if I can understand it surely anyone can.

Oh and their telly programme is a load of tripe, making lorry driving out to be the most difficult job in the world, for Christ sake if they are going to struggle turning the wagon round they ought to pack it in and stack shelves

Its a bit ironic really because if you are looking to prove, or understand that Stobarts are indeed forcing people out of business by their rate cutting the actual fact is Stobarts actually have less depots in the Southwest now than they did ten years ago. If you where really studying it all you’d also notice a growth in EU trucks in the same areas. Now, haulage being a by product of other peoples trading activities should lead you to believe that maybe we aint manufacturing so much and its being imported by truck now instead? Certainly i the case of Stobarts Bridgewater depot all i ever picked up there was Ocean Spray Cranberry juice which i believe is an American product, how it ever got there i’ve no idea. But i’d be fairly certain generations of Southwest hauliers hadn’t been hauling it around for years before Stobarts come on the scene !! Although i’m open to correction.

There’s a few threads on here about the Stobarts TV programmes, i’m suprised you never contributed your views on them there. Besides, as you point out, if its an easy job then its going to be hard to justify a ā€œgood rateā€ as opposed to a ā€œfair rate for the jobā€ ? If lorry driving is easy then its going to be like bog cleaning, thats easy too. Its just a case of finding people to do it. And there’s plenty of people who will do it, even for minimum wage. Stobarts find they don’t need to increase the hourly rate much above the minimum to have a waiting list.
Anyway, how are you and Puntabrava positivley contributing to local generations of business in your own areas/spheres , i’d love to know? Like you guys i’m anti big corporations.

Stobart depot at Glastonbury or Street.Compost and peat products.Narrow lanes to get there.

I want what your on :grimacing: That post is rather like Stobarts, all over the place.

Ah the usual crap again. I wonder if any other firm has ever put another haulier out of business? Gregorys is a big firm. Did they just create their own work? Never won a contact, putting a smaller firm out? Silly me of course not.

Never ceases to amaze me the amount of experts on here. So many know the ins and outs of business. I wonder if the likes of puntabrava buy cars from a small independent trader, or petrol from a small privately owned forecourt, or bread from the local bakers, or fruit from the grocers, or mince from the butcher, or a new washing machine from the little shop on the high street? No of course not.

Regarding the TV show. Its tripe, utter scripted tripe. But like previously said, it had the public looking at hgvs in a positive light. Personally I think its crap.

Well that was a well balanced and thought provoking response. I’m sure that Happysack will take it on board and maybe alter his viewpoint based on it.

never said I didn’t watch it. Granted I only watch it through the gaps in my fingers. I know someone who had been on it and know what crap he was told to say.
