Stobart - Alcester / Corby depots

We heard today that Stobart are to close the above two depots. Some of my colleagues are friends with some of the office staff at Alcester who had been in touch. My MD confirmed it to me later on this afternoon having spoken to an insider at Stobart. Volumes previously handled at those depots will apparently be moved to another (as yet unnamed) site. I was told that an official announcement was made this afternoon - although I can’t find a link…

What happens to Alcester work?

it will either go to one of the rumoured new depots at c or d ,or the work will get picked up by another company

When you say c or d ady, could you be a bit more specific as per the rumour mill.

Would make sense

what hapened to peterbrough site being built then ?

Spoke to my mate and now crick have been warned that there will be allot of redundancy’s there but only warned.

Also coke contract will not be renewed unless stobarts drop price.

i thought they had lost some of it allready

iii.co.uk/investment/detail? … OB.L&it=le there shares say something must be happening because the closures and redundancy’s are not reflecting the share price like november when it was announced.

I thought I had read that stobbies had been awarded money of the government to create more jobs

You’re having a laugh, how much did Stobbies make from their crappy TV shows? All that naff memorabilia ‘made in China’ crap they sell, where’s all the money going??

No seriously pilklington glass got a load as well.

Well, well, well, have any of you watched the new’s to-day ?guess who’s making it ? Well Tesco of course, and I just bet the “chuckle brothers” had prior warning as well (if they didn’t they want to return to the Eden Valley and call it a day !!) How much in % terms do Tesco account for ESL’s T/O,Mo could probably answer that if he’s been doing his homework on his prospective 100% provider of his future traffic ! Did read eleswhere on the site that the Coke traffic is going to go up in smoke if “fast eddie” won’t reduce their rates!!! now that is really rich ! the transport world must have been turned upon it’s head if an operation like Coke is demanding the “fast one” is possibly charging more than “another logistics provider” is quoting!! I think that Coke are having “a Giraffe” but if that isn’t bad enough it looks like Tesco will now be sharpening their knives and will be slicing lumps out of their suppliers, and who will be the easiest to start on ? Depots closing, redundancies, well who do you think the “chuckles” are going to blame for their own shortcomings. How many O/D’s have they signed up to date ? none if the prospective mugs have any sense as there’s an old adage that I always will remember and was an applicable description of “middle men " and Clearing Houses " 10% of a crap rate was not a lot different to 10% of a decent rate” it was the poor ■■■■■■■ haulier that actually did the work that got “stuffed”.Happy days are a coming !! can you dig it Sukkas!!! Cheers Bewick.

I’m only an observer from the sidelines albeit with a little bit of an idea of how things operate in the transport world,I’m not griping, just acknowledging the facts that are there for everyone to see and as usual there is definitely never any “smoke without fire”.So if the cap fits it will have to be worn won’t it.Closing depots, mass redundancies ! what does that say to you Bo Diddly ? It say’s to me that someone is heading up ■■■■ creek and there are no paddles in the canoe ! Cheers Bewick.
