Still using mobile phone

Still using a mobile whilst driving hopefully this should open your eyes.

Felt sorry for the driver when I saw it. Sheer stupidity but I can’t imagine how he feels having to live with that on his conscience for the rest of his life.

He was watching ■■■■ while driving. His name suits him aswell.

Yes, I’m still using a mobile whilst driving. I’m not surfing the web or sending text messages, and won’t answer if I haven’t got my hands-free connected. But chatting on the phone keeps me alert on long monotonous drives. I also drink coffee, and therefore take a hand off the steering wheel occasionally :open_mouth: And if they outlaw air drumming on the steering wheel I’m out of this industry…

The problem is, those who use their phone whilst driving, think it will not happen to them.

The issue you have there is whilst it’s still 100% legal to use a hands free kit for making or recieving phone calls whilst driving, if you are involved in any sort of serious collision or worse involving a fatatility you are in serious danger of being blamed - irrelevant of whether you were really the cause or not.

Tougher penalties for drivers who kill announced on the day the Bowburn A1M story is revived in the press, I can’t imagine it’s a coincidence

Brother dying of mnd , get back now , mil collapsed with massive heart attack , died , mrs in bits , please come home , sil in law , we’re at hospital , you need to come home ( wife miscarried ) ,etc etc etc
I’ve had phone calls off consultants about cancer , in a idea world they’d ring you on a sat morning , but I’m not the only person who needs there help / time , and a lot are a sight worse off than me , so they can only ring when they’ve spare time to do so
And as 99% of drivers have wife’s , kids , grandkids , family ive no doubt I’m not the only driver getting phone calls to get home etc

I try and always have the bluetooth in case I get an i.portant call

8 years and 10 months for killing people. A bloody disgrace! Then there are still people on here that reckon it’s OK to use a phone while driving! Minimum 5 year ban for using and life for causing death is what it should be. Never mind about this ■■■■■■■■ and others like him that feel sorry and start crying after the event.

The judge in the case said he was trawling dating sites on his phone, I haven’t even seen that mentioned other than that Birmingham mail piece.

He certainly should not have been browsing dating sites on his phone whilst driving absolutely no doubt about that.

He can cry all he wants but he did what he did and now has to live with the consequences of that and serve his time for it.

Because of his actions people died and left people without their loved ones. A very sad tale for those who lost loved ones.

8 years in prison isnt a light matter, nitwithstanding whether he deserves it or not.I remember being in hospital for 2 weeks, just desperate to get out so the idea of being in jail for 8 years without freedom would be a terrifying prospect for me…I think its a good idea though, lengthy prison sentences for things like this. Its a good deterrent

all of those would wait ten mins . one advantage of not answering my phone when travelling is it gives me a chance to think about what im going to say . i usually pull up within ten mins of a call and then listen to the message

8 years 10 months for killing 3 people yet this guy gets 10 years and he never even injured anyone , how does that work ?. bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland- … t-62318311

You might argue that no one was injured or died by good fortune for the guy who reversed into the house.

His actions were pre meditated too might swing a bit more against him.

All day long I see other lorry steerers texting whilst driving wagons. They are an utter embarrassment to themselves and everyone else. Weak and selfish people who are only interested in their social media, betting results, reading/sending texts etc.

" I can multi task & deal with this, it’s no problem " Is this the attitude they have or is it pure unadulterated addiction? Either way it is utter mental weakness. The majority of drivers that I personally see texting/scrolling etc are mainly the younger drivers. Childs toy vaping thing in one hand barely holding the wheel whilst texting with the other.

It is fair in my view to suggest that a percentage of these morons are on this forum, and for any of you who are reading this post I want you to know how weak & pathetic you are. Grow the f**k up and leave your phone alone.

Many people cannot stand truck drivers as it is for various (often accurate) reasons, why on earth would you contribute to the hate?
