Hmm, I thought that seemed a bit harsh!
Jokes aside, someone I was speaking to went to flight school, i.e to become a commercial pilot. He took one exam after three weeks, and couldnāt hack it, so he dropped-out. He owes the place Ā£27,000 in training fees, for three bloody weeks, because of some fine-print. Iām a bit scared of that sort of thing.
Well thatās a degree if youāre not Scottish. I owe about Ā£8000 for my time at uni. Got the equivalent of a diploma. Got a letter off a debt collectors āĀ£3500 within the week or we take you to courtā
CCJās stay on your record for 6 years. No chance of getting a mortgageā¦
Bloody education right? Shouldāve got my class 2 when I left sixth formā¦

What do they do with the returned uniforms?
Sell them to spotters at truck fest
Said its for security because people go round pretending to work for stobart
One question - Why would you do thatā ā ?
They are so up themselves they think every driver out there aspires to be a stobart driverā¦even enough to wear the uniform⦠
Anyone seen the video on mirror website of the stobart driver drunk reversing up the m6 tollā ā ?
Number 1 question now is probably how many cans can you drink and still reverse safely up a motorway [emoji6]

They want uniform returned for a number of reasons, firstly, to stop load theft, I.e. buy a shirt off flea bay and rock up at a customer site pretending to be a subbie and have a load away - itās happened.
Second, supposedly it belongs to them I guess and I guess their entitled to ask for it back maybe?
Third, I was told on CPC when we asked why they donāt donate them to charity itās because they donāt want footage to appear of some Isis fighter somewhere wearing their uniform! We said we were sure Isis had better taste!
Top tip. Donāt reverse back down a motorway. David Pickering does not approve. Although pulling your card is ok, as long as you donāt get stopped.
Yes, they were strange scenes on the M6! I notice how they quickly said it was their Czech division, but if I were them, Iād tell the media he was an agency driver.
Twice over the limit works out at about four pints of beer, and after four I still know what Iām doing, so I very much doubt Iāll be reversing (badly) down the motorway any time soon!
As for the uniform, I suppose it is their property, and theyāll want it back. I canāt imagine they hand them down, so just keeping their gear off the streets to stop thieves posing as their drivers seems fair enough to me. Iāve heard about people posing as Paratroopers, or SAS men, but as a Stobart driver seems a bit far!
You see plenty of spotters wearing the uniform, aquired from eBay at a guess, they donāt hand used uniform down as such, you get issued with new.

I work in a supermarket and they like the uniform back as well. Years ago they wouldnāt release your final wages until it was returned. They have eased off on that now though. Having seen the price list of our uniforms and the quantity Stobart will be buying it in I cant believe it costs more than Ā£50 new. It sounds more like to me that it is an excuse to claw some money back.

Yes you are paid for the induction which goes towards your CPC.
They want £240 per day back if you leave within six months
Eh? You mean if If I leave within six months, I would owe them for the two-day induction, I.e Ā£480, or would I owe them Ā£240 for every day Iāve been there? Please donāt tell me if I were there, letās say 90 days, then Iād owe them Ā£21,000 back?
Per cpc induction day. At widness anyway.
If you are a card puller itās an instant pass no need for driving assessment or anything
Tossitoff:
The induction is paid and usually held at Stobarts āService Support Centreā in Appleton, if your not impressed by the place and its facilities Iād be very surprised, a lot of hatred for ESL on here (some justified!) but the facilities they have there are first rate.
Induction is be there for 8am your usually on your way home by 5pm, free lunch (in house canteen) plenty of tea and coffee / ā ā ā breaks.
The two days count as two modules toward your CPC and yes, if you leave within 6 months they will want it back.
Tbh, the kit is clean the work isnāt hard but generally youāll do the hours, been there 8+ years myself and left and went back after a spell of sickness (I was paid sick pay and they were good to me) yes your tracked but in the main if your not an idiot and show them you can crack on they (in my experience) leave you to get on with the job.
Itās NOTHING like that bloody TV show, be sure of that!
Let us know how it goes, Iāll be interested to see what you think of the training centreā¦

Fair enough, I can stomach that!
I canāt say Iām desperate to work there, but the money is good (much better than Iām on now anyway), the depot is only 10 minutes from home, the trucks are generally quite new, and itās straight day or night shifts. Itās safe to say that day work isnāt easy to come by around where I live, there are plenty of companies, but they all want trampers, and dare I say it, pay less than Stobarts do. It suits my needs very nicely, thatās all I can say.
Iāll let you know how it goes
Iām sure there will be a discerning Eddie Spotter who will buy my shirts off me, they may even pay more if I sign them, given that Iāll be a legend in their eyes!
Like you say the money is good,BUT all money is good, just not enough of it for what is expected of you
If apply for Stobart Tramper online, that how long usually must wait till they call back (if they decide who this person suitable )-2-3 month or more???Or if they not call some 3 month than need fill application again???Any info??

I applied online, and they sent me an email a couple of days later, saying that Iāve met their requirements, and I will be contacted if there are any vacancies. It was about two months before they contacted me about this one, saying that they had vacancies at my local depot. I think thatās true, if you donāt get a job within three months, they delete your details, and you have to re-apply.
But, even when my application was pending, it didnāt stop Stobarts advertising for jobs at another local depot on a large jobs website. When I eventually got the call, I thought it would be for the depot advertised on the website, but it wasnāt, which was strange.
Itās very easy to get a job with Stobarts. They take any old bellend. I am living proof.

Iām not sure who provides the private pension scheme, I must say, although we did discuss it in the interview. Iāve had a look on the few bits of paperwork I have, but it doesnāt say anything about the firm.
After I took the assessment, and was offered a position, he said it would be 2-3 weeks wait for the induction, and it was. Mine will be three weeks after the assessment. You start work straight after the induction, so it will be three weeks from assessment to starting work.

Interested to hear the ops thoughts after the first 6 months.
