Start class c training on monday- NOW PASSED

Johnny Boy

Wish you all the luck in the world for your test on Friday…

Guildford test centre hasnt really got a great pass rate and Im telling you this from experiance.

I ve done my tests at Guildford and I know some of the driving Instructors, ie paul of EP training and Kev & Rog from 1st Class Trucking and some of the examiners, ie Gordon, Paul, Martin, Geoff…

When it came to my C&E test, change of area was the best thing I ever did, as most of the roads on the Guildford route are only big enough for a class C anyway. but on the plus side, you got a good test time…

Just a few helpful hints about the various test routes, firstly make sure you give yourself enough room to get out of the test centre, that left turn can be a cow and make sure the road is 100% clear, dont take any risks as theres alot of trade vehicles that use that slyfield industrial estate.

Remember to make good progress, AND USE THEM BLOOY MIRRORS and we dont mean hammer it up to and sit at the speed limit… found with the examiners @ Guildford, they just like alittle below ie 3mph…

Approach all junctions in good time, right gear and dont assume anything, if you are unsure, dont committ …NO ONE ON THE ROAD GIVE A MONKEYS THAT YOU ARE ON A TEST, SO TREAT THEM LIKE IDIOTS

If you head over to woking way, just be careful at the five ways roundabout… thats can be a bxxtch as not many ppl use the bloody indicators and if you go in
to woking town, watch out if you are asked to do a left turns into side roads, give yourself plenty of room…oh and by the way if u come down chertsey road in to Woking and are asked to go 2nd left at the roadabout onto Victoria way, — THINK as you come off the roundabout, GET IN THE LEFT HAND LANE ASAP … ppl have failed for not doing this

If you head over Clandon way, just watch that clandon road, thats one tight road of a rig

The only other advice is if you come back to the test centre down jacobs well road on to Woking road, watch out at the junction you have a really bad incline and theres a yellow hatch box… dont go in it…

I could give you loads more tips, but then just go out and for that hour, give the best drive of the week, show the examiners that you have mastered the art

Hi Swampy,
Thanks for the advice mate, im actually training with Paul at EP, smashing bloke. Had my mock test today, went well till halfway through, no minors until i approach a corner too fast, quick glance in my nearside mirror then bang, only clumped a kerb, then the nerves set in, pick up 5 minors after that and of course 1 major.
Not done that all week, talk about kicking yourself. . But i spose its better to get that out the way today as apposed to doing it on test.
Got everything else sorted now, loads of mirrors, right gear at the right time. I just have to remember to keep an eye on the speed and off the kerbs.
Guildford is not the best place to learn to be honest but then again its all experiance and if i can cope with the worst then it cant get no worse.
Its funny though, ive got experiance of a 71/2 tonner but getting into this Merc is like starting all over again, the only good thing about getting out of a 71/2 tonner it teaches you good width perception, but thats all.
Anyway im going to grab some food and go over my questions for tomorrow guys. Keep smiling.

Have your questions got the new ones on them - they include ‘how do you use the main beam?’ and ‘demonstrate the heater/demist’ etc - if not, then check out the on-test questions in my signature link - I would imagine that the company you are using are well up-to-date though

Hi Rog,yes they are the new ones mate, just going through them now. So much of it is common sense to be honest mate. I am more tired tonight than i have been all week, all this concentrating realy takes it out of you.
Aint it funny, even had manpower back on the phone tonight, i explained i have a 6 week trial with a firm but wouldnt rule out weekend work even if its a shift in a puddle jumper, got to keep all your options open.

Good luck tomorrow mate  And dont forget to check your hazards off! Only saying as you havent mentioned mirrors when passing people or on coming lorries yet im sure you’re aware but they are minors
Make sure you’re back on here tomorrow letting us know you’ve passed asap eh.

good luck for today

did you pass?

Well fellas, mthe news you have all been waiting for :sunglasses: I passed with 5 minors and i cannot tell you how good i feel. After 2 long years of hell with my neck and operations, things are looking up.
My first drive this morning i went to pieces, everything that could go wrong did. Had a 20 min drive before my test. Then the long wait in the waiting room, the examiner calls my name out and bang off we go.
Sailed through the questions, reverse went so well, brake test perfect. Out on the drive had 2 little probs, met another hgv learner on his test coming the other way on a very narrow road, i stopped to let him by and he forgot to move his steering wheel lol.
All in all im very pleased with myself, cant wait to get out there and do it now, already set a goal of obtaining my c+e within the next 2 months.
So Rog ive been itching to say this, can i have my pass banner please mate.

I usually recommend doing 2 to 3 months on C before going for CE and doing at least 1 hour of driving in each week like you were on test but in this current climate it may be impossible for newbies to get that experience so if you can afford it - GO FOR IT

Well Done !

Rog i was thinking the same mate, need the experiance on cat c, id feel better doing it that way to be honest. Got my driver assessment on monday for a local haulier, not nervous about that to be honest, just excited.

Well done, hope it all goes as well on the assessment!
