You will do it easy m8 it takes me just under 2 hrs from the V8 in Inverness to the motorgrill and I think the same to get down to Route 74 ,from there it’s just over 4 and a half back home .
Coltons do Coventry to Aberdeen every Sunday with ease. Should be fine seeing as you’re already an hour further north and in front of the Brum rush hour
I’d say you’ll have no problems really. I regularly do Immingham to Inverness in under 9hrs.
There’s loads of lay-bys on the A9 for a 45. Literally one every couple of miles. I usually stop for a 45 around Lockerbie or Eeardley International at Ecclefechan.

Can’t beat lockerbie much better than the MSA where you come back on at jct17 A74m that’s a Zb hole
Shouldn’t be a problem under normal traffic conditions mate.
We used to do it ok from Rutland going via A1 then A66 and it takes us 4h30 just to Todhills/Gretna.
Running empty should be no problem at all.
Bear in mind that there are average speed cameras nowith on the A9 all the way from Perth up Inverness. Not a problem for you but some of the tourist traffic can be painstakingly slow & processional. There’s also quite a stretch of 40mph in the roadworks north of Newtonmore but even so you should be ok as long as you get up past Preston on the M6 without too many delays.
One of the lads managed Lochinver to Abingdon the other day but that was running through the night with a V8
Have to get from Jnc 13 M6 to Inverness on Monday leaving around 08.00 at the latest - question is will I be able to make it in my 10?
Will be unladen and the vehicle will sit at 55. I know it’s 50 on the A9.
Many thanks in advance, it’s not a gig I’ve done before.
NO!
It used to take me a day and a half to get from Oxford to Inverness and I didn’t hang around either, the A9 is the biggest set back, tourist traffic can hole you up big time. You could chance it but the slightest delay will screw you up.
I’d also be wary what time you hit the raith interchange. It is honesty brutal at the moment with roadworks. Morning rush hour you can easily lose an hour in it. Try to hit it before 7.30am or after 10am.

Around 10 is ok , was quite quiet on thursday at that time

Cheers, Dan, am dropping the truck right next door to the V8.
Actually you should take my remark out of context … I was working on shows and was allowed two full days to even get to the site so I took my time along the A9, stopping at a touristy spot for diner and a little tour LOL

It’s a big old place ain’t it?! They reckon on spaces for 400 trucks.
Some inconsiderate buggers there if you’re on an overnighter though.
Pulled in on Thursday night at 9pm, still a fair bit of space left in the centre parking, and heaps round the perimeter.
As usual I turn off my reverse warning buzzer, stop the truck and turn off the engine and lights within seconds. I always try and be considerate to others. It’s a shame others aren’t the same:
At 11pm I’m woken by a fridge beeping into a space nearby, fridge on intermittent all night long. Why he didn’t park out the fence I’ll never know. At 3:30 I’m woken by the truck next to me striking up his engine to warm it before driving off. I’m all for getting stuff up to pressure but idling for 10 mins at 3:30am is taking the biscuit!!
Good grub and facilities though.
One thing i fail to understand is why they have a TV advertising Snap Account but they’re not part of it themselves.

The perimeter off the tarmac is where all the night trunk changeovers are done and you don’t want to be parking there, especially at the far end where the railway embankment is. We’re doing changeovers every hour there on a night usually between 4 and 10 lorries in total at each changeover with them all handing over sets of straps and ratchets from 7/8pm through to 2am in the morning. You’ve also got Next, a couple of pallet networks and Quayside reefer company from Grimsby who also do changeovers there during the night.

Thanks for the replies, chaps but the job got cancelled when I defected the motor after I picked it up from Poole for the run to Stafford this eve.
What a let down you are mate, we made all that effort talking to you!

Bloody thing said it didn’t want to go all that way.

50 mile buzzer went off, doesn’t like to stray too far from its operating centre. [emoji12]
