Speed record for dropping a trailer

bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-d … e-51083607

Lorry full of pringles bursts into flames. Driver avoids being burnt to a crisp and drops trailer, saving the unit.

Looks like one of stobbies lot.

In the circumstances I imagine the uncoupling procedure wouldn’t involve much more than pulling the pin and putting the loud pedal flat to the mat until the red airline snapped and then some.

You’d be surprised at just how far they stretch as I, sorry, a “friend” found out one day

If it was a stobart unit pulling their trailer then he’ll have needed to remember his “black” routine before pulling out, as them be the rules.

So, Ignition off, key out, 3 Points contact, level ground…

Hope he took the plate of the trailer aswell [emoji849]

Yeah but what about the cool box on the passenger seat?

Dunno why they bothered pixellating out the trailer livery - when we can easily see it’s a stobart trailer. :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:

Same.

But I often see coolboxes on the passenger seat of a Stobbies lol

My record for dropping a trailer was about 3 seconds a couple years ago. . . Forgot to dynamite the trailer breaks then pulled the pin and watched in shock as my trailers rolled off the plate and down the hill onto the ground on their nose about 4 meters behind my tractor  Luckily the lines never broke but had to do the wind of shame that day and made sure I pull both breaks before I drop trailers from that day on. . .

Half way across our yard…err, apparently.

Does look very level so guessing it started at the back so more time. Just for gods sake don’t stand near the tyres as they really go spectacularly even on DDs (one of ours found out).

D-Dog just don’t put the clip on the ABS and it just pulls off, again, apparently.

If you just pull the pin without pulling the trailer park, dropping the red line or putting the landing legs down it can still just come along with you.

Not 100% certain on that bg.
Albeit on international work(sorry to bore some people),so maybe CMR insurance had something to do with this story.
A man I worked for in the 90`s had a hub fire heading into Paris.
The driver did what we all would do,and pull the pin.Unfortunately, the insurance company looked upon it then, as an unaccompanied/unattended trailer, and refused a payout.Eventually put his lights out.

And sorry bg,at no time did you suggest pulling the pin!
