If the options there to do the speed awareness course then take it.
I have done it and it wasn’t BS. Take it as an opportunity to educate a few car drivers.

The option is also there not to speed in the first place!
If the commute to the “course” coupled with 4 hours at your standard hourly rate comes in at “worth more in my time than the fine” - then are you really still going to consider the POINTS on top of that as well?

Patronised for four hours or ripped off for three years, the choice is yours!
I did the course. My licence has been clean for 12+ years since a 36 in a 30 in some no - no place in Wiltshire. I was one of 2 truck drivers. He’d already got 6 points, 42 mph is the max threshold, then it’s the £100 & points.
I did the course. Had to do it in Basingstoke as Hampshire Police aren’t (or weren’t) signed up for the National Agreement.
Turned out it was at somewhere I delivered to, the Hilton.
So I parked my 7.5 up, did the delivery, then sat the course.
Oops, totally forgot to amend my time sheet. Well bugger me, I got paid for attending.

Boring…right up to the point when the Police Occifer showed the record of cars passing through a village with a 30mph limit.Shocking he said
that 3 cars had been travelling in excess of 60mph but I thought it a perfect opportunity to point out that through my village,the only cars
travelling at excessive speed do seem to be marked POLICE,the class went wild and another hour was gone time that had been dealt with.

So the course works then? 
Recently did a traffic light course, lights changed to amber right on white line and ■■■■■■■ trailer followed me through on red.
£85 and 4 hours of total BS but at least I’ve still got clean licence.

The fine and the cost of the course are about the same, so 4hrs out of your life or 3 years of possible increased insurance costs. Do the course, you might even learn something!
