Spec' Your Next Truck

If you could spec your next truck, what would you choose?
For me, I’d say Daf CF (rest cab) 8w with the 340bhp engine (or is it now the 360 instead?- only need 10bhp/t). 16spd manual 'box. 17m3 PPG alloy tipping body with underfloor tipping gear (closes the gap between body and cab). PM onboard weigher, side to side auto sheet like tarmac wagons have.

Daf XF SSC with the scania 620 engine & Volvo I-sift gearbox… That’d be me sorted…!

 I’ll take one of those too

4x2, retarder, roof aircon thingy :grimacing:

I couldnt possibly ask for a better truck, so i’ll keep the one ive got.

DAF CF 8x4 Construction Spec, Day Cab, 410bhp Engine with a 4 over 4 manual, Insulated tipping body, manual easisheet and manual tailgate. On board weigher would be nice though.

Do you mean the 9 speed? (8+ crawler)
I’ve driven the ones we’ve got with this setup and thought they needed a splitter to keep the revs down in top gear, hence my choice of 16spd.
What litre is the 340/60 and the 410?

Scania r400 highline sleeper 8x4 tipper charlton supa lite body twin under floor rams  thats me sorted

new actros gigaspace, 6x2 with “trolley” wheel’s being hidden by side skirts. be spec’d with the 510 eu6 rating. 9ton front axle.

And a chainsaw to sort the trees before they sort your cab

I like the toys on the new FH, so I’d stick my neck out and say one of them in 480/520 GT XL version but I’d like a 16 spd manual box although i’d cope with an I-shift  , steered mid-lift and can you spec one of those driver’s mate thingys to un/zip the curtains when the weather’s crap

Any thing with a day cab ( home every night) and my current wages. Any thing else is their problem

volvo fh globetrotter i shift with the Daf xf bunk

You’ve obviously never driven a stralis in day cab version, I do between 8 and 10 hours a day in one now and I feel more ■■■■■■ when I get home than when I was doing a 15 hour day in a scania R480 top line.

I would have a manual 6x2 tag axle scania R730 topline in diamond white with colour coded bumpers mirrors and skirts and twin square chrome tanks, side exit exhausts and with 6 spot lights across the roof.
I would have full black leather heated seats and a blue carpet with blue curtains, fridge freezer, microwave, kettle, wide bunk, upgraded sound system and twin dual tone diesel train horns.

that’ll do for me

Having just watched Richard Hammond’s programme on the telly I was quite taken by the Oshkosh Striker.

Not quite sure how I’d find it useful but I’d think of something. Awesome piece of kit.

it be useful for cleaning windows or if house catches fire or generally annoying your neighbours

For the work I do now I’d say the Volvo fmx with I shift and a Thompson steel body. Same as I have now but mine is just the normal fm.

Id have guns and {zb} attached to mine, dont care what truck just aslong as i could blow stuff up

I think this would be cool, especially if you had to commute in London, but also I don’t think you’d get cut up very often :smiling_imp:
