Spec' Your Next Truck

8wheels:
Having just watched Richard Hammond’s programme on the telly I was quite taken by the Oshkosh Striker.

Not quite sure how I’d find it useful but I’d think of something. Awesome piece of kit.

Can that be made into a motorhome?

If not, I can have one on this toy:

Longline R620 scania.

And a chainsaw to sort the trees before they sort your cab

You say that, there’s a firm round here that run a load of R400s and a couple of R420 highline 8W tippers, they all seem to be dent free on the roof

DAF CF 8x4 Construction Spec, Day Cab, 410bhp Engine with a 4 over 4 manual, Insulated tipping body, manual easisheet and manual tailgate. On board weigher would be nice though.

Do you mean the 9 speed? (8+ crawler)
I’ve driven the ones we’ve got with this setup and thought they needed a splitter to keep the revs down in top gear, hence my choice of 16spd.
What litre is the 340/60 and the 410?

Ours doesn’t actually have a crawler, just a 4 over 4. 16spd seems a touch overkill for an 8 wheeler.

The 410 is the 12.9 litre Straight six, as I think is the 360 (depends if it’s a CF85 or a CF75) The 75 is the 9.0 litre.

Our 340 is the old 12.6 unit, but for an 8 wheeler you need the extra torque of the 12 litre over the 9.

Dew, I’ve always thought over 400 is overkill on an 8w. I’ve driven Fodens at 32t gross with crash boxes and 10l 325 ■■■■■■■■ Went well enough hence why I suggested 340 or 360 as it seems is offered now.
Although adblue seems to kill the power thesedays; Our CF75s are 360s yet a 12l Cat in a Foden at 345 pulls better and around the same on fuel.

Mack pinnacle day cab,M-shift(auto) 475hp ,no urea(some hope)sliding 5th wheel.
