Spat my dummy out

In 2005 I only drove a 7.5 tonner. Was paid £287 a week and was salaried, actually worked about 55 hours a week. Was made redundant then took my class 2 then class 1.

Wasn’t until I was made redundant that I realised how crap the pay was and I was getting £46 a week more than you are 3 years later.

This boss is taking the urine big time and I would be keeping my ear to the ground with a view to finding someone who appreciates having a driver who is prepared to work hard.

I did enjoy my old job though and would happily do it again if the money was a lot better.

The thing is, what other jobs are out there that have similar pay for less hours? Even supermarkets have a waiting list nowadays.

Im thankful that I have a good boss. Hes a Christian, proper church going type so aslong as I do a fair days work hel give me a fair days wage. Unlike some of the other bosses I see about nowadays.

Its not about ripping your boss off and getting mega money for doing nothing, its about getting a FAIR wage for a FAIR days work and being RESPECTED by your gaffer.

In a way, the RESPECT bit is the most important of all.

Ayup, check the uk Domestic Drivers hours regs.

Oh yes - 5.5 hours driving, minimum break of 30 minutes then another 5.5 hours driving :smiling_imp:

■■?

Its simple - domestic hours = 5 and a half hours driving, minimum of 30 minutes break then another 5 and a half hours driving…

Sorry,I thought it was 10hrs driving and 11hrs duty.Im retired now so dont really care, just thought it would give the original poster some help.cheers Joe.

That is the point exactly. It does seem that over the past decade or so, bosses have lost any sense of respect for their employees, and seem to have no affinity with them.

It defeats my understanding that bosses cannot see that a successful company is about team work, and people being respected for the job they do. Everybody that works in a company is important, from the MD to the sweeper-upper, as each has a role to play in the success of the company.

Today it seems that bosses will stab their employees in the back at every opportunity, see it as a duty to under-pay and over-work them, and replace loyal workers with cheap foreign labour when they can.

It does appear to me that all the above is a major reason for the state of the country now. Bosses with blinkers are dangerous and neurotic nags indeed.

Hi all just to keep you up to date.

Had a long day at work ,
but i wasnt bothered ,
i,ve gone past caring now,
so i dont get stressed.

At least i,ve got £240, so its better than job seekers.

Left 3 drops at base this morning,
and told the supervisor to do it himself, :sunglasses:

It felt good , and i got away with it.
Gonna be as awkward with them as they are with me.
nothing to loose now. :smiling_imp:

Job interview tomorrow,
So i might have a shower
(there seems to be a few jobs
around now,
but will take a bit longer in selecting best job,
once bitten twice shy)

Thing are looking up,
and there seems to be
light at the end of tunnel.

My Mrs and baby are fine ,
so who am i to keep on moaning.

Good luck, Macka!
