Unless he’s gonna run and max 4:30hrs between breaks he will loose several minutes when he takes a break unless he knows where he can have a break as close to 4:30hrs
I’m probably misreading your reply, but why would he lose several minutes if he didn’t run to close to 4:30hrs between breaks ?
I will only take 2 breaks in services any others will be in a lay by on the A34 so only seconds lost
Got to take 2 45’s either way

If you’re not going to make it back then why 2x45? 15 mins Tot Hill or wherever, 30 mins Knutsford or Lymm. Should give you 3-3.5 hours driving south, take a 9 and get back in the morning on a single hit.

To think you’ll be in Wigan for only an hour, is a little more than a tad optimistic. I’ve always said anything under 3 hours was a result in there
Only been there once and was in and out in an hour [emoji16]
I traveled on the 62 today at 11am from Leeds to Manchester and ended up with a half hour delay due to queuing traffic. All the signs saying slow accident. Eventually got to this accident and there was 2 cars in the hard shoulder. One had gone in the back of the other with the most minor of damage, all people stood about looking like they were having a laugh with the copper. The 6 miles of doing 5mph was all because of everyone slowing to look. No lanes closed or anything. I then noticed another huge queue on the opposite side with all them slowing to look at this “humongous” accident.
If a minor bump can cause that then I’m sorry you’ve no hope. Holiday season will only make the peak commuting times quiet but make the rest of the day busier, and busier with people who don’t normally drive on the motorway…

It only takes someone to sneeze on the 62 and it’s knackered.
Was walking once to my mates once saw 2 cars “crash” at a set off lights I was waiting to cross at.
Story short cars were doing walking pace due to traffic. The 2 drivers got out exchanged verbals then the were struggling to find any damage to the cars they were on there hands and.kness finding the smallest of a dent.taking pictures of nothing really. 2 pco’s attended.
Both cars must of blocked the lane for a good 45.mins.
Why they can’t just get out see no.damage apologise shake hands drive off.
O right I forgot where’s there’s blame there’s a claim

You’re at risk of starting to sound like an episode of Stobbies tv programme mate.
‘‘Will he get to Wigan for his critical load of Heinz beans before his booking time, or will the country starve, this could be life or death for the UK’’
Crack on mate, and find a decent place for a night out where you can get a pint. …I know a good pub just outside Oxford. .
Tune in later today folks for the next thrilling episode of “Will he make it” the gripping tail of one mans epic adventure to the far flung reaches of the frozen North

I realise that I’m dense (and permanently confused about life on the road nowadays even though I still hold a licence! ) and there must be a logical answer, but why would shunting interfere with driving time? Whenever we were driving off of a public highway (on sites, in quarries loading etc) tacho was always put on other work which didn’t count as driving time and saved a lot of minutes during the working day especially in large premises?
