Dave the Renegade:
Does anyone remember the south wales hauliers, such as Entress, Morfa Transport, Blue Line, Slver Roadways etc
I am new to this but yes I remember these firms very well.I have been trying to find out about them.Do you know anything about G Morris Pontyberem.I am trying to find a photo of NBX 920 or NBX 300
My father worked for Morris i worked part time.but I worked for most of them at one time in the sixties
Hello Richard,
How are you these days – long time no see. You are going back a bit - to when your father Jock was with Morris
I haven’t seen any photos of Morris Pontyberem on here either. There are a some photos of Gwynne Bowen on here.
Hope to see you soon – Hywel – Llandovery.
Hello Richard,
I forgot to tell you there are few N & A James photos on here.
How many miles did you clock when you were driving PBX 360J.
Let me know your email adress - to send you some photos.
regards - Hywel.
hi all,
this leyland freighter and trailer were new in 1983.as far as i am aware? gordon swain who owned this outfit from new, still has it on his farm near pencader.his son is shaun swain the well known aec/old lorry restorer.
hi all,
w.g.r. lloyd were an old well established fim originally from pyle. this photo was taken after they had moved to stormy down.they worked mainly out of metal box in neath.they ran a good few erf’s in their time, always well turned out, including a w reg. b series with a troublesome experimental gardner.not sure what motor was in the big j dennis ,i forgot, until i saw the photo that i took, that lloyds ever ran one .my guess? is that she had a gardner as lloyds loved them.i remember as a kid watching their brilliant fitter “irish martyn”,he was a genius!could fix anything.
around 1979-1980 they move back to pyle, their yard is now the site of village farm cafe.the experimental gardner b series is on the left in this photo.that trailer behind it looks to me like a joint motorways coiler, lloyds subbed to them for years.

A bit more history on this Oshkosh, it had a C.A.T. 325 bhp.16 speed g/box and a 100 ton winch
It was rated @ 80 ton and was 6x4 ,
Built in 1968, by Barlow Oshkosh a Oshkosh subsidiary in South Africa, it was imported into Belfast
by a C.A.T. agent and used until 1980 when it passed to Bruce Jenkins in South Wales,he converted
it into a recovery truck, it then Passed to the Mullens Brothers in Brookside Garage Bryncethin
cheers Richard

I always thought the national game on the IOM was Marbles?
Not now Dennis, they lost 'em all.
I’m a rugby league fan my-self Chris! A Super league team would go through those ponces like a dose of salts!!! When the two codes played each other at Twickers the R.L. lads beat them at both disciplines----ran all over them they did,it looked like they playing a part time team! Oop and under Eddie!! Dennis.
Ariel view of John Raymonds yard around 1974/75. now all gone with a big office block and major r/bout replacing it all. Behind the Atki line up are two units A Seddon 30/4 and what is the other one? a Volvo or Renault? these odd wagons were run alongside the Atkis, just for comparison
they were often loaned by manufacturers, hoping to get their vehicles into the fleet
