LYNXMAN:
One for Chepstow Chap. an early 60s A.E.C. Mercury t/unit with a very distinctive cab( look at the unusual windscreen)
madeby Oldland Motor Bodies of Bristol , one of these cabs is under going restoration at present
Any more pics of chepstow transport trucks would be great… they were run by my boss’s grandfather , justice david phelps, which is the JDP on the corner of the cab… and i think my boss would love to see any pics of his trucks…
The info i have on this Bedford is that 3 were supplied by Atlas Garage of Newport and the body is a Bonallack, colours were red cab and red and yellow bodywork

I think Lovells another sweet maker, were from Newport, last saw them around in the late 60’s.
Cheers Dave.
…hi all,
we all had a wonderful time at the annual steelboys xmas party.the icing on the cake for me was this very early f86,brought along on saturday evening on behalf of volvo trucks, she was sent to sweden for restoration many years ago and is now back in the uk,at volvo’s uk hq in warwick.the welsh connection is that i was allowed to take her out for a test drive yesterday morning, whilst mrs.pete359 packed our belongings into her car for our return trip home .thanks to john comer from volvo trucks.

hi john,

Hiya Andrew, sobered up yet mate? I re-call that F86 when it was new in '67 it used to run down the A6 loaded with Pulp wood from the Kielder forest to Bowaters Ellesmere Port,it had a hard life IIRC,it was quite a novelty at the time and was probably the first Volvo that Taits of Haydon Bridge sold as the areas distributors.
