Another trip to Jeff Ways has turned up somemore gems!
A ray of hope to save the Mickey Mouse Foden. Spoke to Jeff yesterday and he tells me has had two enquiries to buy her as a complete lump. Both are up country so there might be a delay because of the weather etc. But fingers crossed she will be one of only a small amount of vehicles to ever be ‘sprung’ from this garden of doom.
where about is jeff ways yard please regards martyn
Hi Sammy Dog. Take A470 North off junc 32 M4, take 3rd exit off, take old road through Rhydyfelin(behind Upper Boat Pub) go about 1.5 miles, just before road bears to right to go under the A470, take a left off that bend and go over a narrow steel bridge over the river. Park at the end and go through where there is an old trailer blocking the way. Good hunting!
cheers malcolm ill pop up and have a look looking for something else once the massey is finished.regards martyn.
hello sammy dog.
there was a fellow by the name of protheroe that was on the block stone contract back in the 60s,when a few of the port talbot firms bought some old bristol 8 wheelers from bridgend and swansea BRS.he used to run with another man by the name of pascoe who was also from brigend/ port talbot area,a very good friend of mine who is still driving in the abbey had one of the first ergo mammoth majors that came into south wales and was also on the blockstone from craig-yr-hesg quarry in pontypridd to marples ridgeway in the abbey.

happy new year graham,
from what i can gather, alot of enterprising local firms were involved with the deep water harbour at port talbot.can’t say that those names you mentioned ring any bells with me though?trucknet members stubbsy and beaver680 may know? as they were both drivers with protheroe’s at the time.the same protheroe’s who owned the fleet i posted photos of had lots of old eight wheelers working internally in the abbey at that time.
regards andrew
one of protheroe’s atki’s.
