Well it hasnât worked for me for around a month now Pete, I canât access it from my favourites list but if I log on via Google etc it only lets me show about 7 pages out of around 20. I have now gone back to using Imageshack, not as good but at least I can post pics.
Pete.
hi all,
something a little different now, during 1990 the british army used to come to porthcawl for the night, enroute to the large castle martin tank range in west wales.they are seen here on the a4229 going the wrong way around the roundabout in front of the esso garage at south cornelly.it was quite a sight with around 15-20 loaded tank transporters and a spare scammell, which was frequently used .i think they were powered by a v12 roller.
pete 359:
Bit âblurrreyâ these last two shots you put on Andrew! Was it you that painted them? didnât want us to see the âniagaraâ waterfalls and âorange peelâ finishing did you? Thought it was a âspecialityâ of Coopers!!! Light the âSalamanderâ get this workshop warmed up!!! Cheers Dennis.

Andrew, I know things in Porthcawl can traditionally get a bit out of hand on a bank holiday weekend but calling the tanks in seems rather drastic .
Seriously though where did they park that lot up?

morning neil,
they were expecting trouble/so they thought they had better play it safe .all jokes aside, they always parked up on salt lake carpark, the large area of land opposite the entrance to the fair.they used to have a few on guard duty overnight, the remainder, and i mean dozens and dozens of thirsty squaddies, would then go on the lash in the pubs on the seafront.they always stayed in the esplanade hotel, which was regularly trashed
.in another album,i have lots of photos of them parked up overnight, will bore everyone with them soon
.
regards andrew
hi all,
hereâs a couple of local lads .
hello andrew.
From my time moving the Challengers you tend to get a little knowledge on certain things, which brings me to remember that the engines fitted to the Scammell Commanders are basically the same power plant that is in fact fitted to the Challengers themselves. Could be wrong and open to correction.
Graham.
