Dave the Renegade:
Hi jandyt,
Did you work with my old mate Dave Kinsey on Illtydd Thomas
Cheers Dave.
Hi Dave
I was only a kid when Dai Kinsey worked there, but I do remember him as a nice guy and a real character and good laugh- shocking bleached hair and mullett though; he should have addressed that !
Thats him jandyt, sadly no longer with us,grew up with him in this village and went to school with him, also drove for the same firm. Both of us had similar accidents. As you say he was a character.
Cheers Dave.

dai also tells me that this cab is still there, though it’s covered by overgrown bushes and trees and can’t be seen, sad to think that a once thriving concern that operated vehicles all over the uk ended this way.thanks again for the disc dai, that’s what this thread needs is more people like you who contribute photographs like these.more coming tomorrow.
regards andrew
Pete, I can confirm that vehicle (H953 PCY)is still there and even more overgrown now than it was in the photograph. This was also one of the Ivecos which were based in Poole from 1988 onwards.
You’re right about it being sad that a thriving business like this (like many others) finishing.
It’s been a particularly sad week, as David Thomas who was one of the directors passed away a week ago today on 3rd October after a long period of ill health.
Looking through my pictures, I found a happier picture of this old horse just after painting and before being sent out onto the road.
I do have a load of old Illtyd Thomas and David Thomas pictures online at the following site:

There’s also one of David Thomas here taken (I’m told) around 1960 in front of his beloved Albion.

Thanks- I’ve really enjoyed this thread, so much so that I’ve read all of the 152 pages over the last couple of days. Some great photographs and memories over a period of many years. Thanks to all of you who’ve contributed.

Well done Dai- I’d forgotten that Brian had E916 before the Duck, even if it was only for a week or so. I think he had E915 then as it had a Jake brake fitted- or did I imagine that bit?
Either way, he deserved an OBE for the way he did that job. I don’t think many of us could have managed that for that period of time and as well as it was done.
On another note, I’ve been rummaging through the attic this morning and found another load of old pictures including some real rarities. It’ll take me a while to scan them though, so be patient!
e915 was fitted with jakebrake step on box type e915 was a loverly piece of kit, also spoke to young terry wogan this evening when he left illtyd thomas, he went with taylors of martlys, taylors have been taken over by bibbys.
cheers Daibootsy.
