Reminds me of a Standard Vanguard II Woodie which started life as a van for Pontypool Water Board who converted it into a woodie for going around checking the levels in reservoirs. It ended its days on an allotment in Palmerston in Barry in the early 1980’s. That was NAX 10. :cry:

these old photos are great,pure nostalgia. takes me back to when i first started going with the old man, on weekends and school hols ,in Albions,AEC’s and Gardner150 powered ERF’s. usually had to sit on a milk crate as most of the old uns didnt have passenger seats! good old days :slight_smile:

caught this roadhouse man loading furniture in my street last friday.h.c. herbert are a very old established south wales firm from maesteg near bridgend.they ran several f88’s when i was a kid.

was away in gloucester all weekend with my family.we went to the international air tattoo at fairford,this was the only welsh lorry that i saw whilst there.john evans transport from barry.

this old day cab v6 sk merc. was at the airshow with scalextric,no real welsh connection,but something different :smiley: .

komatsu 450, nice batch of pic’s there with old Blackwood and Pontypool firms.
I can not remember the name of the fibreglass company, but loaded there once. Most of the work was done by Pritchards, Ellis Morgan, Fox and Wakelys, originally with furniture vans and later curtainsiders.
Pritchards kept an immaculate fleet.

Notice the Q plates , I remember other wreckers having the UHB suffix too.

i have managed to scrounge more pictures for us all to enjoy,a chap called edward ham, (ted) delivers v.w. audi group parts to us.ted and i always have a chat about trucks as ted was a driver for wick transport during the 1970’s ted also attends the shows and steam fairs.he kindly lent me these pictures to share.first off,a leyland lynx.
