Hi Andrew,
The BRS boys would like that one on their thread, especially Harry he likes Scania’s.
Cheers Dave.

Does anyone know of a Ford Transit MKII high screen minibus thats lying about suitable for destruction? otherwise a perfectly good one is about to go up in smoke as part of a film? We know about the van in Nelson, but thats too important to go up in smoke. The type we mean is the same as the very first ā€˜bustlers’ that National Welsh had.

south cornelly based t.s. rees have been seen on this thread several times, here’s two of their artics , lime tankers that at one time went up to llanwern and back 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

a new 401 that was on the same job.

mechanic77 would like these,as i do.a pair of diamond t’s from groom and llewellyn, north road, bridgend industrial estate.

skewen based tsp transport b series, seen outside the drivers house in pyle.

hello simon.
it was nice to have a little chat to you when i dropped my truck in yesterday, you have posted a 112m on with the operator being robert cann of cardiff, do you know if roberts dad drove for hills transport many years ago because i can well remember a chap by the name of billy cann back in the early sixties.the 142e that G. Walters bought from under harry gardeners nose was posted earlier on this thread by pete 359.keep on posting .
regards graham.

Hi Graham, im not to sure about the history of some of these vehicles so if anyone knows anything about who ran them or where they are now then let me know. i’ll ask some of the longer serving members in work if they know.
In the bag of photo’s i was given there were some slides in their of W T Davies old place and the ā€œpride of the fleetā€ F Reg 143 450 6x4 parked outside Telfords when it was shiny & new with a low loader hitched up and machine ready to work.
will see if i can get them on the net.
How is your machine doing, i changed the turbo gasket and bolt, was a pain in the neck to do mate!! took it out for a road test too. i was like a kiddy in a sweet shop.

Could you tell me a bit about the history of Walters then mate??

Regards Simon.

hello simon,
basically dai walters started in a small way back in 1982 with a handfull of small machines,he was involved with a few major road contracts with the old mid glam county council and steadily progressed with a few opencast coal sites of his own and ventured into civil engineering, demolition, land reclamation, and the latest turn has taken the company into wind farm construction.the company is now one of the biggest privately owned in the uk with around 350+ items of plant ranging from an 8 ton JCB to excavators weighing in at around 300 tons.the company is presently running around seven such excavators. Also there must be around 30 cat 777s ,10 d9s, 40 volvo dumptrucks ,7 cat 992 s, 7 cat 16 graders, just off the top of my head.obviously the bigger tackle is stripped down into smaller pieces but the majority of plant is moved in one piece.the bulk of the plant usually stays on one site maybe for a couple of years without the need to move it and the rest is moved about on the two scanias one being a 6x4 r560 & the other one you described like being a kiddy in a sweet shop a 8x4 r620 and an assortment of nooteboom trailers,i hope that this brief message gives a little idea to all what walters group is about.
regards graham.

Thank you Graham, take care & will see you soon mate.

NZ JAMIE:
G’day,
Some great old Scania pics there.
Chris143 mate,he’s an old pic of a BRS Scania, not an 82 though mate. I took this in Tiverton,Devon, sometime in the late 80’s.
Hope it’s of interest.

This Scania or one like it was used as a local shunter on the Selkirk contract in Barnstaple but was based at BRS Bridgewater.

hi this is a model of one of a Illyted Thomas Iveco i made recently after seeing those photos earlier on this forum it gave me an idea to recreate what i used to see alot of around swansea as a youngster, and recreate the south wales scene in 1/24 scale if its of interest.

hi spencerjones 20,
i really like that model, you will have to get a rough and battered old tandem bulker loaded with alloy frag. to go with it.thanks for sharing that model with us.
regards andrew

G’day Fellas,
With regard to the blue Bedford on the last page,I’m pretty sure it’s a KHE and not a KM. To be a KM it has to have the double bumper with four slightly smaller headlights set into the bumper. The KHE has two headlights in the cab front,it also has the same full front wheel arch that the KM has and also ten stud wheels like a KM. I’ve seen a few of these here in New Zealand. The photo below is one still opperating in Gisborne North Island
