I quite agree dreva. I used to run into South Wales a lot in the late 60’s and early 70’s,a different world now. All credit to Andrew ,John and the rest of the South Wales members of trucknet for making this thread what it is.
Cheers Dave.
John Morgan:
The top pic of a Leyland Super Comet - It was originally a tipper bought from the Leyshon Owen when my father took them over. It was originally a Tipper and was stretched into a flatbed. It was driven by the infamous Randal Clatworthy in 1971 ( Never a dull moment!)The other pic is of his 1st truck a Dodge D308 with a Perkins 6354 engine and an Eaton 2 speed axle. It was purchased from Joint Motors in Kenfig Hill in 1967 and its first job was on the Slag tips in Merthyr with Glamorgan Plant. 26 shillins an hour plus fuel!
hi john any pics of the 2nd truck the old man had leyland comet tny257g .daicap.
Well done lads you’ve hit the ton…100 pages of piccies and intresting write ups let’s look forward to the next 100
John
Hi Andrew
I think he had 4 atki`s in total - The one pictured was bought new from Horris Edwards when Telfords were atki dealers. I think it was driven by Ronny Nichold from Llantwit major.
I have found boxes of old pictures and they will take some sorting through - Ilast few for tonight - The old Yard before t was full!!
I think the one on the right is Ginger Grant will ask the old man the others names in the morning.
Hi Dai
Mother says she definatly has one somewhere… Will take some finding - How do you remember the number plate?
Another Seddon Atki for you andrew. I think this one had a ■■■■■■■ 335. After we sold her she was one of the trucks that sunk on a cross channel ferry. This truck was Driven by Ken Harry for many years.
Tremendous 100 pages, well done to all. Andrew, you defenitly brought this thread back to life. Thanks for your hard work which has encouraged John and many others to share their photos and memories.
Regards Paul

Hi Caddy. The KW came from Dandos in chipping sodbury. She was one of a pair that were Re-possed - We clearly had one & Im afraid I cant remember where the other one went.
I also remember that the chassis on the KW used to flex like hell - It was in the region of a 5 inch bow when working at 80 tons. I remember Kenworth investigating it and said it was all within tolerance. The rear suspension was also on Torsion bars I think.
Earlier I was mistaken in saying the MAN jumbo was ex Sunters. It was ex Pickfords! Must have been getting late.

Great Pics Bubbs.
The Mack must have been very new in that pic because it was on the half wings.
The Kenworth had quite a few front bumpers & looks like its just had one in one of the pics. People used to drive into it quite often.

Hi Marc Bubbleman,
I can’t take any credit for this thread reaching 100 pages,it was only on two pages when Andrew came on and posted loads of pics along with several other members from South Wales, hope they reach two hundred also yourself with your excellent scrapbook thread, keep them all going.
Cheers Dave.
Hi,Dave you’re right about everyone like Andrew etc having the enthusiasm and pics to get thread to 100 pages but it was your memories that sparked it off…to be honest you must be well chuffed
Heres some that may bring back some memories, apologies for the crap quality
Cheers Bubbs.
