hi mark,
thanks for that, i was wondering who they were.john, with regard to you’r old kenworth, then i don’t know where she is now,i took that photo in a services near koblenz about 15+ years ago.at that time a british owner driver from ipswich area? was running her.you never know though, she may turn up at a show this summer.i’ll ask around aswell.
reggards andrew.

Hi all

Andrew it would be great to find the old Kenworth so any info would be much appreciated. The old mans certainlyt got the truck bug again reading all these posts.

Heres a pic from a trip to the Volvo Factory in 1984. There are a few familiar faces and few departed friends in there too. The other pic is of the old Marathon with a Michigan 475 on her. Guess no one worried about axle weights back then! It was taken in Cwm Collery in Beddau

Earlier in the Thread there was mention of our old contractor. The top pic is of contractor with me infront the day we bought it from Hills of Botley. She was called Amanda and was from the Wynns fleet.

The other pic is a pic of the Foden is is shown earlier in Davis & Harolds Yard with the Hub Removed. The old man sold it to Dicky Moore and Im not quite sure what happened to it then.

The top pic of a Leyland Super Comet - It was originally a tipper bought from the Leyshon Owen when my father took them over. It was originally a Tipper and was stretched into a flatbed. It was driven by the infamous Randal Clatworthy in 1971 ( Never a dull moment!)

The other pic is of his 1st truck a Dodge D308 with a Perkins 6354 engine and an Eaton 2 speed axle. It was purchased from Joint Motors in Kenfig Hill in 1967 and its first job was on the Slag tips in Merthyr with Glamorgan Plant. 26 shillins an hour plus fuel!

Scania with 7 Axle Nicholas Trailer - The big difference between this trailer and the ones that Walters have today it that it was fully Modular and all axles had 36 inches of travel and the camber of the wheels didnt change with ride height. The walters trailer with the wheels in the air are of the through axle type. The Scania is carrying an Hitachi EX1800 on its way to DigBoy in Scotland. It was under a Special order @ about 165 tons. Driven by Tony Phillips & mated by Ken Harry.

The Scammel was a fantastic work horse - 1 of 2 C666JKG - Sold to Bruce Jenkins ( Very Unlucky Truck) and this one which was C667JKG - Both were ■■■■■■■ 350`s uptrated to 400 with Rare Soma axles. I think they were 120 tonners. This one was Driven by Darren Williams who now drives a crane I think.

a (poor quality) picture showing a rear view of the yard in 1982.

Another EX1800 being Delivered. This time Driven by Darren Williams and matted by Ian Boon from Pyle I think. You can see how the Modular axles are twisting on the Univen ground but all tyres still in contact.

The other shot is of the ex Sunters MAN which I thin k Keedwell might still have. She was one of a pair buyilt for sunters. One of my Favourite trucks and fitted with a ZF transmatic gearbox. I think she is carrying an NCK 1405 - Grossing around the 150 ton mark… I dont think there was a weighbridge that could have weighed them anyway! I remember Kings of Bristol complaying to the ministry that we were carrying them with the tracks on @ 16 foot 5 wide! Another special order movement.

Jesus what a mess! Old Atki Borderer behind the Garage. It was Sadly cut down to make a bogey. I still give the old man ■■■■ about that! :open_mouth:

The Mack Leaving Costains Yard - Big Doug Driving - Fitter Brian Roche & Peter Mordecai in the background. She would Roll 20 minutes later delivering the beams for the Sarn Viaduct Section of the M4. Doug had a bad head that night after a Tangy Jack hitting his head! :unamused:

awesome picture of the mack,i really loved that truck, the day my old man painted it i was in school, and as soon as i saw my parents that night i nagged and nagged him to take me to the yard to see it.several years later i took this pretty crap picture of the mighty mack, that’s a very young looking ian boon next to the trailer.

Bit of a classic Sequence this - Scania Gearbox exploded near Cross Hands. Cosslets old DAF to the rescue! Cant rember the drivers name but he was a great bloke. I think Cosslets DAF rescued the Scania on 3 occassions in Total!!

Pontrilas is only the other side the river monnow, from South Wales.

Scammel with the Channel Cutter pictured earlier - Love the GPO van! Hard working little atki below.
