anyone remember this one ?

Hello all, I’m Darren. I stumbled across this web site and noticed all the great photo’s that have been added, especialy the shunting lorries of Blue Line, Raymonds, and Joints. I used to work for Blue Line shunting at the Abbey some years ago, and i noticed this pic that Phill Marks has taken of the lorry i used to drive.hahaha.

Well, the lorry was playing up for a while, i think it was the alternator/starter motor, after queing some time on the main weighbridge to weigh out i couldn’t get it going, so the fitter came down from Bridgend, started to jack the cab up, then when it got so far the weight of the cab took over and it just kept going till it hit the floor. The hinge’s holding the cab must have been rotten. After it fell to the floor, the fitter said “Ah well, win some you lose some”. haha

Hi Graham,
Any truth in the rumour, that you will be moving kit up this way
Cheers Dave.

hello dave,
we are in your area quite often to the tarmac quarries,We are presently working on an overburden contract at bayston hill as well we have machines on long term hire to tarmac in there.Iwill be in bayston on weds evening to load a cat 385 excavator for return to south wales. However we will be taking the scenic route owing to restrictive bridge loadings at west brom,A49/A5/M54 A449/OUT TO JCN11 new by pass around cannock back on A5 to JCN10 M42 south and rejoin M5 all ok for the nectar points but at 2/3 miles to the gallon a very expensive re route.
regards graham…
