hi john,
i clearly remember going with you’r grandfather billy to the yard at coychurch road.in the garage was a guy big j that you’r dad was converting from a tipper to a unit.would have been mid-70’s when billy was j&m transport’s foreman fitter.many years later i remember going to the midlands in the kenworth with a load of coil, tony ā€œthe turkā€ thomas was driving and could he make that machine go.thanks for sharing your photos.
regards andrew

Hi Andrew

There are a lot of old memories this thread is brining back. If it puts a smile on peoples faces its all priceless. The memories of the Turk always made me laugh. I never knew whether the stories were true but they were always entertaining!

Billy ( Dad I always called him ) was one of the hardest working men I have ever seen & also one of the cleverest when it came to a quick fix. I rember the Bogies he made in J&M for carrying concrete that had a marina gearbox on the steering to alter the ratio.

Do you have any idea if I can find out if the N10 is for sale?

Heres a few more - The top one is the old man in the S26 extended cab, The Foden I think is in Cornelly Quarry and Locks Cat 992 pulling a tanker up Sarn Bank in the snow!

Can anyone see the reg on that Foden? is it G 901 JWN ? the one that I saw the other day in Coney Beach?

hi malcom,
that foden was e321 swn and new to l.c.lewis from newport.
regards andrew

Great pictures of the Antars. That looks like Roy to me in the hold?

Just found an old Task Trailers leaflet with a picture of the Mack in it. Does anyone know where she is now?

Hi Andrew

I heard that about 10 yearts ago but then a bloker called saying she was at a truck show with a tipping trailer a few years ago.

The Old Man fancies a truck as a Restoration project if you know of anything.

Cheers

John

Through the Caitlin House Transport Project, we could find a project or two for him locally ! What would he fancy?

He fancies something either American (Flat Front) or Bonneted Scania or Volvo so we can put a box on the back.

Cheers

That appeals to my bent sense of humour, forget the trauma of the accident, get your camera out to take photos of the wreckers that turn up!!
