South Wales Hauliers sixties and seventies onwards (Part 1)

hi all,
this foden is owned by cross hands based kbhs bulk transport and has recenty undergone major chassis/rear axle surgery, she now has the man hub reduction double drive setup.the super single shod front axle has been raised with 5 inch steel blocks and owner andrew thomas cannot wait until he couples her up to the tractor pulling sled at this years carmarthen truckshow.

kbhs love man’s,the fleet is vitually all man artics and eight wheelers.

though a couple of other makes have squeezed in.

hi chris,
you may not realise this m8? you caught it bang on right when you took this photo, notice the way the sun catches the colour on the cab.   .very good, nice fh too.
regards andrew

hi Andrew i took that photo around 715 last night, i see you have some crackers on again latley    well done and thanks for your remarks Chris.

This is a mate of mine known as Dai Coity moving my office in Pant Quarry in bridgend

this aec mandator v8 may well be in spiers of melksham livery, but the ax registration indicates that she started her life with someone in south wales.ely transport, alcan or monarch transport llandow?,i don’t know who had it new,my guess would be alcan’s? at cross keys. that short reg. rings a bell:?

this fiat 684t was owned from new by evans transport in my home town of porthcawl.i remember my father repairing this truck after it had a very nasty accident in london, when it’s driver jumped the traffic lights near putney bridge and a routemaster bus destroyed the cab.i did many miles in this truck as a kid, though not many with evans transport,it was later owned by evans’ business neighbour j&m transport on stormy down,i recall the j&m fitters cursing those trilex type wheels.they also disliked working on the engine as the cab didn’t tilt.although it was a gutless, rough riding, noisy piece of italian crap,i don’t think it was unreliable? ā€œthe maccaroni kidā€

your bang on about the trilex wheels M8 a nightmare, sadly i dont remember Evans of porthcawl.
