by sheer contrast,this daf xf530 was in with us for some repair work last week.

loaded up the last of a fleet of our 637e motor scrapers yesterday ,on its way to ripley monday then over to alfreton to bring another 777d back down to nant helen.i notice that daf belonging to cj bird is well turned out it should walk away with a trophy at any show, did bewick transport have a base in south wales? cant seem to remember a lot about them but i used to see their lorries about.

this car driver actually paid no attention to the steersman on the trailer and mounted the pavement with the results for everyone to see.if only he had waited 30 seconds literally.

How times have changed in the 60s and 70s a Cat D8 would be carried on 3 axled Scammell Highwayman artic , the Scraper’s would have been moved on 5 axles artic or a 2 axled 60ton float as would the chieften tank as they came in around 55 tons ( I moved several new ones from Leeds to Salisbury plain) the dump trucks would only have had a 5 axle artic as the ones we moved were only around 40 tons from ■■■■■■■■■■■ a lot for export.
