Hiya Andrew yes it was K. Fell &co and also J.B. Hudson Ltd. and J. L. Ion Ltd. all in the same deal . The 3 firms were owned at the time I took them over by Davy & co. (Grange) Ltd. Old man Davy had died in '64 and his son John carried on and did infact expand the firm with aquitions of Hudson’s& Ions and one or two odd A licence buys then in about '1970 I think he lost interest and from running a fleet of around 30 he let it dwindle down to 4 tractors/7 trailers 2 6wheeler & 2 4 wheeler flats . I wanted the firm mainly for the freehold depot adjacent to a big customer of both of us ( Libby’s).Cheers Dennis.

Chapter & verse ----- That shot would have been taken either late Dec 75 or early Jan 76 the last new tractor to join the Fell fleet before being taken over by Bewick tpt in June 76 .NHG920P was a 250 ■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■ Bellamy (R.I.P.)is the driver and is pictured leaving the Fell depot immeadiatley behind the Libby factory at Minthorpe. The load would probably be 21 ton of evap milk or rice pud ! At the time the shot was taken Libby’s was the only out bound traffic Fells had and 90% of their return loads was being supplied by the Bewick Traffic office .If I was to be critical I would say that the quality and standard of sheeting and roping left a lot to be desired at Fells in comparison to that at Bewick Tpt. Our shunters soon got to grips with that and with an influx of new gear we soon had the firm out of the doldrums !! We re-lettered the headboards on the Fell motors "BEWICK"when we took over but the Sed/Atk was disposed of in Jan77 to be replaced by an F88 Reg No TEC571R. Bewick.

top man dennis, those 400’s weren’t a bad machine as long as they had a ■■■■■■■■■■■ no i don’t want to get involved with the debate about gardners,i just personally like ■■■■■■■■■■■ tin worm was the big let down with the 400’s and 401’s in my opinion.
here’s a photo for tony the tiger.that wheel gets cold in the winter, but cool in the summer.a guage for everything!

Hiya Andrew Yea the Sed/Atk was a poor effort we had 10 I think from memory and apart from the big ■■■■■■■ the rest had (youv’e guessed) Gardners 150/180/240/265s.Its a bit early to be letting Carryfast see pictures of a cab interior like that!! I would have put one up of a Big J cab first or you will have him blowing his biscuit all over the key board !! Cheers Dennis.

Hi Andrew are they disc brakes on the fron’t of that new Merc or are my eyes playing tricks .Cheers Dennis

hi dennis,
you’r eyes aren’t playing tricks, they are discs, which all the tipper operators we work for tell me that they are nothing but trouble, they go into a wheelwash with warm or sometimes hot discs, they then get sprayed with water and crack,if the vosa man sees that it’s come to the police station and bring you’r pyjama’s.
