Youv’e done your homework Andrew yep straight over the edge down towards the river with 22 ton of Libby tall Rice on and within 10 minutes half the population of Sanquar were there with trolleys/prams/barrows ect. apparently it was an accident blackspot ( they had handballed aload of coca-cola the week before at the same place !!) Had 17P written off and replaced with a new F10 and guess what the driver of 17P was given --------- OEC 16P !!!. Cheers Dennis.

Yea Andrew I shot up in the car that morning and got there at the same time as our Insurance asessor did from Glasgow and he started jumping about threatening all the locals he would see them prosecuted for theft if they didn’t stop looting !! it was hilarious to watch !! I have quite a few photos of the incident but it would be too embarasing to put them on ( even if I could ) . We didn’t have that many accidents in nearly 30 yrs but when we did they were fairly spectacular events I am sorry to say !! I had the same Insurance underwriters at Sun Alliance for over 20 yrs and never had a cross word .If I wanted say a new cab on a Scania and it was debatable somtimes I got a new cab !! They always used to tell me that we had the highest % NCB in the north of England we were never tempted to change as the other insurance cos. couldn’t get near with their quotes .
i don’t like straying from our thread, but felt these images sent to me by my mate jason dean need to be shown.it happened recently on the a361 close to the foster yeoman quarry near glastonbury, whilst nobody was killed i gather that one of the drivers was found in a field and had to have one of his legs amputated.this can happen to anyone in a split second, take it easy out there!
Hi Andrew,
I’m amazed how anyone got out of that one artic, probably the fact that he was found in a field saved him. I know when I had a bad smash, they found me in a ditch, probably thrown out.
Cheers Dave.
carmarthen based charles footman has ran many different makes over the years, this is a 401 that he used to own,now owned by my mate richard stanier from stoke-on-trent.

i am so grateful to dai “cap” davies from tondu,as mentioned before he and both his sons are well known respected members of the south wales transport industry, dai called into see me again today and gave me another disc with more gems from days gone by.thanks again dai.
anthony davies (dai’s youngest son)was lucky to walk away from this,as i remember he came off the eastbound m4 on the bank before the a48m junction on his way to llanwern.
Hello, not been on here for ages but it brought a tear to my eye when i saw the john raymond wagons such as the 401 atki,s. i remember these when i used to go to the yard with my dad or brothers when i was younger. i did post some pics on here last year of raymonds f10s one of which was paul barrows and the other one may have been big dicks, when i remember how to do it i,ll try and post them. thanks for brightening up an evening!
sorry mate i should have been more specific, they were on the trucking in the 80,s thread, one of them with my brother and an atki shunter up rockwool is still there, photobucket deleted the rest. there was a cracking pic of dai boon among them! my mates got a load of pics from brs bridgend going back to the 60,s. if i try to see him next week i,ll try and get them on here. your Peterbilt is a nice looking truck, seen it when i came past your bodyshop last year, looks like something from another world with the plain jane trucks around here.now if i could just get them six numbers this saturday…!
