Hi all,
A bit of a variety here
Brand new Leyland Super Comet.
Hazells of Newport LV ERF.
An ex John Raymond Borderer.
A South Wales registered F86 tipping something somewhere?
An early welsh Transcon from Hicks,a long way from Machen.
Bridgend BRS contract Leyland Roadtrain.

I think the f86 was Henry Jenkings from Llantrisant
That would probably be Graham Gammond from Hereford driving the Fiat next to Hick’s Transcon.
Gammonds was run by Graham’s father Eddie at the time, and as far as I know only Graham did Middle East work.

That’s interesting Keith. Gammonds also ran this LHD air-conditioned B-series ERF, so did that do Middle-East work?
I wonder if anyone heard of Bengry haulage ? I forget where the headquarters in Wales were but I drove out of the Leeds depot. I say depot but it was just a little office and the only wagon I saw was the Albion four wheeler rigid flat I drove. I enjoyed driving for them doing some local and distance work.

Hi all,
Been away In Norfolk for my birthday. Sad news reached me on my return. Len Tyler has sadly passed away. Len was a steel driver all of his life.Known by everyone who ever worked out of The Abbey. His daughter Chris kindly gave me some images and memorabilia to kindly share on here. R.I.P. Len. Legends never die…….
Monarch Transport, A good friend of mine the late Jack Sharkey ran their North East operations in Newcastle Upon Tyne, They had a lot of traffic out of the rolling Mills in Jarrow, He had some owner drivers on the books, A great fellow was old Jack, He was also the chaiman of the Transport Managers Club in Newcastle, He used to organise all the social dinner dances which were allways a great night out, Regards Larry.

Hi all.
Andrew, not sure what’s going on but nothing on here seems to be working for me.
Even reply’s or updates are not hitting my e-mail. I had to sign in through Google to catch up. Found an old post and hoping accessing through this will help.
Great photos here. Yes, I also believe the F86 is or was a Henry E Jenkins of Beddau truck. The Super Comet of Taff Plant Hire looking nice. A few years later they had a batch of 6 wheel Bisons. They ran the shale contract out of Merthyr Vale colliery up the slip Rd to Twyn towards Dowlais top. The Pullman Brothers ran the business which also included Taff Salvage and Coal Trading Company along with a small scrap yard. Graham H may remember Bill who ran their low loader for many years.
Regards
Paul
