Wow haven’t been on here for a while and it’s grown a few pages, well done to you all!
I remember the transcon pictured in welsh north road pigeon federation LRB 635W as it was owned by a guy called Neil Stephens from Taffs Well, he and his brother Alan used to own them and another one COO 269T? They had a yard at the bottom of Gwaelod y Garth before you came to Shorts yard, their father Viv Stephens used to have a couple of Leyland G cabs with hiabs and our yard with Celtic Cranes was in with them in 1988, good days
The S&K Volvo B590CEP was new in March 1998 when I as new driver started in JRT
to be given a new truck was quite a shock, it was one of the first three Volvo`s
on the fleet at JRT, B589 driver Bernard Lewis B590 was mine and B591 Steve Everitt. First trip was to Metal Box West Houghton return load 45 foot steel girders ex Liverpool docks, amazing what memories old photos bring back.

Hi Smallcoal,
I took that photo back in 1985.David Beer had just coupled up his F10 to that tilt.Loaded for Italy with scrap railway lines. Here is a classic shot from,im guessing the early to mid 1970’s? During M4 construction, Sunters wrong siding Pyle roundabout, were the traffic lights are now and have been for many years…
Long time since I posted here, my excuse could be unless it had South Wales on it I was limited , a recent contact I have has one or two I can share and deserve to be on this thread, all credit to scp for the photos.
Oily

Hi Smallcoal,
It looks like the Rover V8 Police Car is an M Reg so I’d guess the photo dates from around 1976? They also brought massive concrete beams for the bridge by The Angel Inn,came passed the Cornelly Arms pub, turned right onto Heol Fach and up through North Cornelly.I rode up to see it on my bike, lol.Pickfords Scammell Contractor did that job.Congratulations on your 10 years service. The father and son you referred to is possibly? Graham and Jason Morgan, very good workers.Great men,I think Graham took over from Stan Morris when he retired in 1994.I had heard Jason was with Crynant.
Regards Andrew.
Hi Andrew ,how did you know I was on hard shoulder what is it with the highways people ,they pulled up behind the tyre fitter had changed the tyre the gun was on the nuts ,a girl came onto us asked me for contact details then proceed to ask which tyre was punctured the gun on the nuts is a big giveaway then she asked if I left tyre debris on the road they passed none cause my tyre didn’t come apart ,guess they get paid for asking stupid questions cause that’s all there good at
