Phil tanner was based there as far as I can remember? They’ve been in the game a long time,they are located near Cardiff DAF now,just off Hatfield road.hope you well mate…

Hi Pete, This 1946 Reg Vulcan reminds me of the one I drove for a short time, GUP 670, Ex BRS, It had a P6 Engine in It was the worst wagon I ever drove, The brakes were very poor ,IIRC It had no servo assistance fitted, It was sold on to a local coal man from Gateshead who told me his drivers didn’t need brakes, :laughing: :laughing: :laughing: , The good old bad days, Regards Larry.

:laughing: :laughing: :laughing: Dennis I don’t need any sort of brakes anymore I just slow down naturaly, I blame getting old for this, Im faster when ive had a few Malts :wink: :wink: :wink: , Regards Larry.

Dennis, Can you remember the Volcanic Vulcan as RWB referred to it when AD acquired the business from Jake Strong or were you still in nappies then ?
I can but only just, I think William drove it until they got the new Comet.

Hi Dennis Smiles for Miles had 5 of them all with RR,220,s in,IIRC They had a few problems & went on to ERFs & Atkis,The last ERF They had had the 8 LX Gardner in M reg, Sadley they packed up in 1975, Regards Larry.

Aye Larry those Seddon RR 220’s were bad news, I acquired one when I bought out another firm and I couldn’t get rid of the poxy thing fast enough eh! it was the first motor out the door ! Cheers Dennis.
