A shot of Monmouth Troy Station ( pic by Nick Catford ) would any body know who the haulier was, looks like a couple of Fodens, Transcon? and a DAF as well as the obvious Atki
That would be Eric Ward did mostly Alcan work ,using mainly Fodens but had one Atki Borderer .
Started haulage on local work , agriculture and potatoes , regards Keith .
Hi Keith, Did Eric Ward have a son named Stuart by any chance, he had a blue volvo gobstopper on an egg job then went on to flat work taking bales from Smethwick to Port Talbot, Cheers Pete
Hi Pete i have to say i would not know that one , Eric ran a very tidy fleet the Fodens in particular , some of them i belive ended up with Sam Bowkett down in Newport , regards Keith ,

hi all,
courtesy of neil burris.the iveco he drove, many years ago for llewellyn of newport.
Hi Mate, When I first started on the road with Moveit from Gloucester, it was a Maggie / Iveco, wasnt a turbo star but someone decided a good idea to put the cover on the sleeper window to make it look like one, she was air cooled, went like the clappers, even when grossing at 38t, noisey as hell, cab was cold, more air holes than a hairdryer, but you never got left behind! Except when the b####d broke down, which was often, at least in Europe Iveco had a reasonable dealer backup, they needed it! I could do Cardiff to Dover in one hit, and that was when we had to use the A2 to get there
The only one I can think of at Cross Hands is D G Price (Transport) Ltd., of Heathfield, Thornhill Road, Cross Hands. The only Maggie Deutz arctic I have recorded to them is YWO935T. all the other antics listed are Leyland / Sed Atki / Mercedes / Atkinson / Fiat. I cannot recall their livery. They also had a number of box van rigids and a couple of tippers.

thanks for that Andrew, i’m sure that must be the outfit I was thinking about. Come to think about it I recall seeing box vans loading at Mettoy same colour ford d1000 ■■?. They looked as though they had been hand painted in a light brown !!! yuk !!! I don’t recall any other maggies down this neck of the woods.
Hi jubbs, you are correct the two tone brown lorries were D G Price Cross hands, had about 12 boxvans working for mettoy, also in later years had about 6 artics.a Leyland marathon 3well worn Atki borderer’s ex John Raymond, 2 Seddon Atki’s also for a while had a maggie deutz ex Ryans of Cardiff.I worked there in the workshop 1977 till1980.It’s where I had my class 1. Graham.
