Hi all, Andrew nice piece of nostalgia there in the magazine.
I was looking at Dave’s latest page earlier, that’s funny that you are in the photo. Iirc John Andrews Volvo is a F88 and there was a write up in one of the mag’s about it. It looks as if he did a real good job of restoring it.
Real head turner, the truck that is lol.
Regards Paul.

Hi,
I have had four new jobs this year, in the last one I left after one day They employed me in a staff position, but tried to get me to drive - for the money I prefer to be employed as a driver, so I told them to stuff it! I have decided to stop working, except during the summer on the cereals for the local agri co-op.
Yesterday I bought a JCB and am going to odd job with that, with my sheep, etc. it should keep me busy enough!
This is a great site and it’s really good to hear names from the past, even if sometimes it’s sad news - like Archie
What happened to Gordon “Fudger” Powell? John Thomas (Ex - TDW)? Tapper (MAT)? Barrie Williams? Soapy (Caddie’s)? and many more. . .
I read that John Brain is in Dover - When we where kids John was a right tearaway, his antics always getting us into trouble, but if he only had one ■■■ left he would give it to you instead of smoking it himself- a real nice guy! A bit of a “Just William”.
fudger powell still going 2 vans I think. sold his yard recently to wayne powell trans pretty fit to 4 his age NOW john brain always up to something years ago we acquired a load of cooking fat up country when we got back I went to sell it it was bloody used oil thatle teach us gutted
Paul John:
Hi all, Daibootsy great photos of Abertawe Transport. Weren’t they owned by a coal company?I remember them running into Aberthaw power station around 1989, and iirc they ran off the wharf at Fabian way. When you crossed over the bridge to the M4 (east) you could see them loading coal. Not sure if that was a blending area or the coal was imported, or probably being exported from there!
Regards Paul.
hi abertawe were owned by the johnson bros skewen the transport yard was in heol las they used to blend the coal at the yard on the warf at skewen next to brian rogers old yard
