hiya,
I used to pass John Raymondās yard frequently in the days of the Borderers
and there was always lots of vehicles lined up as if the job had gone āquietā
this was at any time of day these motors were all runners at the time, just
seemed strange to see so many motors standing idle during working hours,
I could have understood it over the weekend but not Monday to Friday.
thanks harry, long retired.
Well done ladsā¦400 pages Keep up the good work,my favorite thread.

Nice one 400 pages Andrew , Dave and every one that has put stuff on this thread Keep the pics and stories coming in . Tony

Thanks to all the contributors, and keep the thread going.
Cheers, cattle wagon man.
Seeing those 400ās of āJRāsā lined up reminds me that the old man (JR himself) would insist that on a Saturday ALL the trucks wheels were checked for flaking paint & repainted ready for Monday morning, so tin of red paint in hand and off you go son⦠Gave me acouple of hours overtime on a Saturday at least & not hard work, except when it rained!

I recall these wagons well, from Pembroke (dur) and based just over the river from the castle IIRC. I donāt remember Watkins (in the background) at all but I think they were from Kilgetty way.

Hi Mike,
Iām afraid I donāt have old pics unless I find them on here - like I said the f88 wasnāt my image which makes me feel a bit guilty but Iām only really re-posting within trucknet. Itās photos like that that drew me to this brilliant thread - such memories!
So Watkins was from Sageston! I donāt remember them at all for some reason. Who was the guy near Cross Hands Martletwy with the white Transcontiās?
Speaking of Transcontiās from Pembrokeshire - hereās one from Carmarthen Truckshow a couple of years back:
hi sime 17 transcon proper looking truck specially red regards rowly
