Hello Andrew
Is it the m4 before the widening took place ?. Looks like its climbed up the hill from Brynglas tunnels and is over the top of St.julians hill (Newport) and is heading down to the coldra, possibly loaded for Llanwern.
regards Tony .

Around the same time, if its a new truck we did work for Thermalite via Wincanton, and had 30 of the Roadtrain 6 x 2 units similar spec with underslung exhaust, they were a cancelled order for a petrol tanker job, maybe part of the same batchâŚbit like Marathons with the same rear axle, you could near them before you saw them , but used to fly along.

hello all,
i must agree that tony is correct,it is the top of St julians before brunswick plant done the road widening in the late eighties, the machine on board was a 61-RB probably heading for spencer works.

Iâve seen that great photo before Dai,think it was taken at Port Talbot docks, loading molten pitch off a boat.Used to see Shorts tackle in Llanwern,IIRC they had priority when crossing the main road through the site, lights used to change when they approached them.
Hi all.
Thanks Andrew for putting those photoâs of mine on, and yes that is Jim Wright working for Tony Morgan. That Scammell was a real flyer, at 38 Ton could do Monmouth bank and only drop one gear. Nearly as fast as the Kenworth. The Scammell was last seen in York on the human waste tanker work, or as they say, dirty water.!!!
Thanks for the info on R & D Burrows Andrew.
Cheers
