I bet the BAA reg on the Merc will cause a few jokes at the expense of a Welsh driver when up the road.
Neil.

hi all,

dai cap:

pete 359:
hi all,
here’s another for dai cap, this foden has got a penllyne headboard
[album][/]

I remember this Foden well. We were running duff from the old Lewis Merther Collery to Newport dock.Doug Cox,s was the driver he pulled on the weight bridge and was over 40 ton, there were about 17 of us booked for being over weight including me in the old scammell I was over 35 ton
regards Dai Cap .

Yes dai cap is correct LWS was driven by doug cox from the time it came to penllyne .
A lot of history with this truck .She came to penllyne at about 9 months old from a small haulier in the west country who had dropped dead but we later learnt that this truck was originally ordered for howells & llewellyn of st mary hill but by the time the chassis cab arrived at fodens at avonmouth H & L had ceased trading hence it was sold to the small grain haulier & fitted with a second hand 5 yr old wilcox body.

Lws served penllyne well till around september 1988 when jeff had offer he could not turn down from Luxton & combes of tiverton as they needed a wagon of this spec within days so the deal was done hence the black & yellow paint job . I did see a similar photo to this featuring the Erf parked behind on shunting duties at teignmouth docks in devon where they were used loading & unloading animal feeds from ships hence the bulk bodies The erf been from the fleet of cornish legend Sid knowles of penryn.

Hi Marc and Andrew

I’m fairly sure that MYC was new to John Keeling from Bath. He used to run a really smart fleet. I’m also certain that there was a tie up between Keelings and CRW - I think it was another member of his family that started CRW, something along those lines anyway - but I don’t know exact details…

All part of Turners now I believe… :frowning:

hi,
i am guessing? that tony morgan had that f10 second hand.i think you are right with that tie up,because the vehicles used to be branded crw keeling, they used to run bulk tankers into the abbey 24/7.
regards andrew.
