Out of 3 artic tippers I have actually seen tip over 2 were Fodens carrying coal or coke (H. Kendricks) both in Bilston steel works.
One on it’s first trip out ouch!
This is what can happen when tipping a loaded bulker whilst jack knifed.

hello andrew,
the hitachi that graham has on is not one of the EX range, far too early.it is more than likely from the UH range and i would think that it is a UH 801.You will remember John Dolan from bridgend ,He ran some big hitachi,s a UH14 and a UH20,the UH 20 was powered by two izuzi engines iirc, I would say it was an 801 but i will get the forensic guys on the case.
regards graham.

Neil.
hello neil.
it was,nt me but it was a walters plant 8x4 that is kept in our yard at avonmouth,it took a 70ton excavator fitted with a telescopic arm into the miners to dismantle a concrete chimney,it was moved out today.
regards graham.
hello andrew.
walters has a load of tackle in the abbey, they have just demolished the big concrete wall as you leave the abbey from the west end side, also quite a few items on for tarmac as well.
graham.
This photo was given to me today to scan by my work colleague Peter, it features his brother Bert [on the right]who worked for Bowns at the time and was using this Transcon to collect trailers from the north.

I remember seeing that Transcon, think it was a demo model to start with. Wonder who bought her, the reg looks familiar. Probably a while before Ade1970s time. Rowly might know though!
