Hi all,
At last I can get photo bucket to work-ish.here’s a Neil jarrold picture of a t.d. Williams transcontinental :sunglasses: .

nice scania mirror andrew lol, axles look a bit odd :unamused:

It looks very much like a conversion from a tandem to a triaxle - there were some trailers around that had an axle with super singles shoved in between the other two. When the weights went up to 38 tonnes, there were loads of peculiarities about for a while…

hi paul,
you are right about the 1983 and on peculiarity’s,the favourite! tractor to be converted by many south wales steel hauliers then was the volvo f86! because it could legally? carry 26 tonne of payload!!!there were some real abortions on the road around that period
regards andrew.

Hi All
I remember seeing this one in the newport area. I think richie Dafman1 may be able to tell us more. The trailer looks like the one behind another of his family’s transcons on page 352 (DWN 707V) I may be wrong.

regards
Tony

Left a bit, right a bit, back a bit, drop it there! John Raymond loading on a lovely day for a bit of R & S! :unamused:

Hi Chris,
That article was/is 24+ years ago? I think dai left jr’s not long after the magazine article came out.meachers from Southampton took on a lot of jr’s drivers then as they were doing a lot of welsh traffic at that time.dai returned to jr several years later and has to my knowledge stayed there since.his father wally beer worked for joint motorways for many years and when I was a kid dai beer had an m registered Atki bordered subbing to j&m on stormy down.he later ran an f7 and then an f12.he ceased being an owner driver around 1984,he then went to jr and had one of their first f10’s b590 cep.
Regards Andrew.

Brings back memories of my British Leyland days!

Hi,
I can’t recall his name, though I remember seeing this motor many times pulling for nolan’s of new Ross.as far as I am aware, this was the only 2448 bevan’s ever sold new? Thanks for the information.
Harry the 1748 that I drove for joint motorways was in it’s day a remarkable machine,it’s the ONLY truck I have ever driven that I can still hear 20 years later.I also loved the eps gearbox,I thought it was a revelation.
Regards Andrew
