hiya,
Andrew with all that power surely this would make a heavy hauler or is the
gearing not able to be altered ieā double reduction hubs etcetera.
thanks harry. long retired.
Hello Harry,
To be honest by American standards my 1983 peterbilt wouldnāt be considered over powered, more the normal run of the mill spec.when ever we have been there on holiday you notice some really unusual (compared to europe) spec. Outfits.the heavy haulers I have seen over there seem to be a similar spec.to mine, often a cat, fuller and by the way they go down the interstate very high gearing .some of them add an extra non driven axle ahead of the double drive bogie in some states,it lifts when they are empty or bobtail.they still believe in building traditional trucks in the USA,often using glider kits to achieve this.vehicle age doesnāt appear to be a barrier there as it is in Europe.though I dare say that will all change now, they tell me disc brakes are fitted now and I believe some new kenworths and peterbilts have the daf engine in them.i gather Volvo are still the best seller though and have been for a while now.
Regards Andrew.

Regards Andrew.
This will be reply 10810, one ahead of the excellent scrapbook memories, and equal on pages at 361. What an achievement.
Probably will not get anywhere near bubbās number of views, as we have a smaller audience, but nevertheless what an achievement to have such a successful thread.
I am just a small part of it, but believe we should reconise and congratulate Andrew/pete359 for his tremendous commitment.
Well done Andrew and everyone who contributes.
Regards Paul.
