South Wales Hauliers sixties and seventies onwards (Part 1)

We’ll be having a convoy up to the show from South Wales starting on the Saturday morning to arrive early afternoon like last year.

Plan is to meet in picnic area on A40 between Raglan and Monmouth at 11.00am and pick others up along route via Ross on Wye, M50, M5 south, A46 Evesham, Stratford, M40.

Anyone taking their truck to the show wishing to join us please get in touch with me.

the chap in the yellow was a joint’s fitter, malcom davies,about 7 or 8 of us were on hand to clear the carnage.

Hi all,
Last Friday at only 59 years of age Malcolm Davies sadly passed away Malcolm a.k.a big bird had spent his working life in the haulage industry and was a very well known popular guy,he was both a fitter and driver for joint motorways for many years,working along side his brothers tony and Paul.malcolm did many trips abroad with joint.i can recall him being sent out to bring back the broken down and damaged motors from all over the uk and mainland europe.tony davies malcolm’s elder brother and joint’s transport manager kindly called into work last saturday to tell me the sad news and agreed to let me post these few words about a good friend who will be remembered fondly by all he once knew r.i.p. malc.

anyone remember b.w.rees (farm milk collections)newport road cardiff i worked there avery many years collecting milk from farms and taking it to the creameries around wales and the rest of the uk a very good firm to work for but when the son took over he wanted general haulage and went into llanwern steel works but it didnt workout couldnt compete with the likes of r.g miles ken jones cardiff transport thats where i ended up workin for cardiff transport another good firm to work for my boy john worked at cardiff transport aswell hes now working for gwynedd shipping in llanwern hes been workin in llanwern delivering steel now for nearly 23 yrs lol

Are you aware of the book , called " Road Transport - Wales & Border " , by Paul Heaton ?
There are many photographs of B.W.Rees & Son s milk tankers , general haulage , and their earlier fleet of milk kit collection wagons. Some good nostalgic photographs within the book. Also included , is a brief history of the Rees family`s heritage.

I hope this is of some help for you.

that was some trip cov was on his 2 week holiday with morris bros but all together it took us a month i could tell you some stories a bout that trip if any one see’s cov ask him about the eggs we bought in turkey

hi all,
for anyone who wants to attend, malcolm’s funeral is being held at margam crematorium on wednesday september 12th at mid-day.don’t know where after that,maybe porthcawl rafa club?as i know malc.used to go there. just look for the cloud of diesel fumes.r.i.p malc.
