hello dave/ lynxman,
i was talking to mr jones son that evening and i asked the very question and he told me it was 1960 .
regards graham.

Thanks Graham, don’t think they made them after that, the Standard name disappeared soon after that and the vehicles were badged as Triumphs with the Herald replacing the Standard ten.
Cheers Dave.

Standard finished in 1963. They then used the name of Triumph after that. Standard’s made a bigger van based on the Vanguard 1,2, & 3 models which were 12cwt vehicles. There is a tidy Standard Atlas van on Ebay today in Ross-on-Wye if anyone fancies a project? When Leyland were building the Atlas it was also available as a Scammell Tractor unit with the famous Scammell coupling ! You won’t find many of them lying about !

Hi Malcolm,
Just got this off the net.
The Triumph Herald was a small two-door car introduced in 1959 by the Standard-Triumph Company of Coventry. Body design was by the Italian stylist Michelotti and the car was offered in saloon, convertible, coupé, van, and estate models
Cheers Dave.

Couldn’t resist putting this shot on for you Andrew!!! I was talking to one of my former drivers(ret.) yesterday who had always been a dyed in the wool Gardner man, that was until he had a stint on this 470 143,one of two we ran.He just came out with the recollection as he couldn’t believe, and still can’t, the effortless performance of the beast.Cheers Dennis.
