South Mimms Vandalism

As I am now working for a British company (still doing Spain) I have the grave misfortune of having to travel into the UK now and again.

A couple of weeks ago I parked up in the layby (opposite Scania) at South Mimms, I got there at about 0230. Fortunately there was just enough room for me to get on, it did mean however that the Stobart truck behind me wouldnt have a clear exit - nothing difficult either.

Anyway, I woke up (due to traffic) at about 8, and went off for my ablutions and a coffee at the truckstop. Whilst walking back to the truck I noticed my rear number plate was missing - it was definitely there when I parked up. Upon further checking, I found a fuel cap had also gone walkabout - no fuel missing though.

Bloody typical I thought, they cant leave anything alone in Britain these days. Then I discovered that the red airline had been cleanly cut through as well!!

Now I am not one to jump to conclusions, bit my gut feeling was, and is, that all this was done to cause maximum inconvenience and trouble for me. Sadly I am convinced that it was the Stobart driver who carried out this wanton vandalism. Why? Simply because I inconvenienced him by parking in such a way that it required him to use the steering wheel to leave the layby.

Now I cant prove my theory, however no other trucks were damaged or interfered with - if they had they would all have been waiting for the fitters to come out with spares etc…

What a fantastic country the UK has become - maybe thats why so many immigrants want to go there.

If anything required the use of a steering wheel and a brain, i very much doubt it was a stobart driver :bulb: you said you drive in europe, does your truck have euro signage? this would make it a ‘target’ for anyone (in this country), unfortunately :frowning:

I have to admit that I find it impossible to have any sympathy for someone who parks in a layby clearly marked “No Parking” and double yellow lined because it is intended for Abnormal Loads, when there is a perfectly good secure truck park on the other side of the fence. It breaks my heart to pay £23.50 to go in there as well - and I’ve had to shell out twice this week - but I wouldn’t then complain if I had problems when I’ve deliberately parked as above to avoid paying.

I avoid paying whenever I can, but I do employ a bit of common sense as to where I park and how safe I may or may not be. You obviously didn’t. And you paid the price. Your tough luck, I’m afraid, you did have a choice.

I’ve never known it to be full in there, btw. So that’s not an excuse either.

I was the Stobart driver parked @ South Mimms…and yr poxy truck was minus its number plate, I noticed when you woke me up at 2.30am taking 1/2 hour tp park the poxy thing!

And no…I didnt touch your airlines or anything else on your filthy disgusting heap of junk

Irregardless of whatever the layby is intended for, it still does not excuse the feral scrotes who now seem to populate the UK.

As for common sense, I think that parking in a well lit area with the Police and loads of other traffic passing by regularly - even through the night is about as good as you can get. The fact that I did not intend to pay exhorbitant parking charges is I think irrelevant.

I tend to agree with that.
Had my curtains slashed in the industrial estate near the bikers’ pub in Coalville the other night. German registered truck.
Parked there loads of times in the past in an English registered truck and never had any bother

Oh, I forgot to mention - its a UK plated truck with English signage, so there is no way it could be mistaken for a foreigner - even if it was, should that make a difference?

Thank God I moved my family to a civilised country (Spain) where you are left alone and treated with respect, both by other drivers and the general public.

it was an eastern european that did it!! i saw him!! he did it to make us brits look bad!

not really cos here is your first post.

now according to your first message you have accused the stobbie driver of this vandalism and he is actually here on this site and defending himself. now i would apologise for the accusations or edit your first post. unless you have some proof.

dreva:
why

Because he accused the Stobart driver of stealing his reg plate and fuel cap, and for cutting his red line.

Stobart man says he didn’t do it.

…Or did I read Hombre’s first post wrong?

Hombre.
If you hate this country so much , why come back ■■
I’m sure if Spain is as good as you say then it would be quite easy to get a job that would save you the hassle of coming back here.
Maybe if you did that it would be one less selfish idiot that the heavy haulage boys have to worry about as they try to find a place to park.

cant you do that for him jd       oh and i get the apology thing now     :blush:i got it after your first post jd just cant type as quick as some

Surely cutting a red airline would make a God awful noise when the air gets dumped?? A noise that would have woken me up…

Stobart had left when you got up, sooooo that means that unless your truck had no air in it, it could not have been a Stobart driver?? Or someone cut it in brad daylight while you had a dump and breakfast…

how about the stobart driver had left and while you were having breakfast and dump… mr heavy haulage came along and was slightly miffed at your presence.

sounds a bit more likely to me.
