South Mimms Vandalism

true they do get peed of about that the heavy haulage men :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses:

I am certainly not the type of person, who when proved wrong will continue to bash on with my party line - so to the Stobarts driver who I clearly accused quite wrongly, I offer my sincerest apologies. We can all get it wrong in the red mist of anger.

To answer the following:

Hombre.
If you hate this country so much , why come back ā– ā–
I’m sure if Spain is as good as you say then it would be quite easy to get a job that would save you the hassle of coming back here.
Maybe if you did that it would be one less selfish idiot that the heavy haulage boys have to worry about as they try to find a place to park.

Why come back to the UK, you ask. Well firstly I havent ā€œcome backā€ I still live in Spain. I have however had to take work with a UK company due to the horrendous state of the Spanish economy.

To give you an idea of the degree of unemployment here, in Andalucia during the first 4 months of this year 84,000 people lost their jobs - including me. The transport sector has been particularly badly affected, so there are very few jobs available and as a foreigner (and I quite understand their reasons) I have to play second fiddle to any Spanish applicant.

You can rest assured that as soon as a job with a Spanish company comes my way (and I am not been lax in searching for one) I will most definitely take it.

Lucy:
I have to admit that I find it impossible to have any sympathy for someone who parks in a layby clearly marked ā€œNo Parkingā€ and double yellow lined because it is intended for Abnormal Loads, when there is a perfectly good secure truck park on the other side of the fence. It breaks my heart to pay Ā£23.50 to go in there as well - and I’ve had to shell out twice this week - but I wouldn’t then complain if I had problems when I’ve deliberately parked as above to avoid paying.

I avoid paying whenever I can, but I do employ a bit of common sense as to where I park and how safe I may or may not be. You obviously didn’t. And you paid the price. Your tough luck, I’m afraid, you did have a choice.

I’ve never known it to be full in there, btw. So that’s not an excuse either.

Irregardless of whatever the layby is intended for, it still does not excuse the feral scrotes who now seem to populate the UK.

No, but a bit of common sense would have told you that London is somewhere that has plenty of them, being a big city,.

As for common sense, I think that parking in a well lit area with the Police and loads of other traffic passing by regularly - even through the night is about as good as you can get. The fact that I did not intend to pay exhorbitant parking charges is I think irrelevant.

Even better would have been to go into the secure park you were right next to. At least that way your damage would have been covered by the insurance. This way, it probably won’t be.

Also, since when has parking on double yellow lines next to a ā€œno parking at any timeā€ sign been good common sense?

Dreva - Ok, fair enough, just because I’ve never seen the place full doesn’t mean it doesn’t get that way after I’ve gone to sleep…But in this case Hombre didn’t even look, he just thought ā€œSod it, I’ll park on these double yellow linesā€ instead.

Sorry, but my sympathy level is still zero. I agree that this sort of stuff shouldn’t happen, but we all know it does. There was a viable alternative which he chose not to take. More fool him. You snooze, you lose.

Lucy, I was not looking for sympathy, nor did I expect any - I was just venting my spleen. As you will also note, I have offered an apology to the person I clearly accused quite wrongly. Whether or not I was parked illegally or otherwise does not justify the damage done.

Maybe i have worked in Europe too long where this sort of problem is rare and truck parking is rarely a problem - and paying to park is virtually unheard of. If you do have to pay to park, then the fees are reasonable - not extortionate.

I gotta agree with Lucy, it really gets my goat to see trucks parked in the abnormal load bays, they should be clamped.

you’ve just been lucky in where you’ve parked then, in my last year of running to and fro to spain rarely a week went by without vandalism being caused to the vehicles, france was getting ridiculous, routiers, services, motorway rest areas, it made no difference.
spain was ok except for your area funnily enough, anywhere from malaga over to marbella, you never knew what you was going to wake up to.

I was quite sympathetic to the annoyance this must have caused you, as mindless actions tend to do, until I read this bit…

Yep, and in the meantime, you are quite happy to come BACK to a country YOU CANT STAND, and deprive someone out of work IN THIS COUNTRY, the chance to earn a decent wage.

Sorry man but I think you are just a selfish git.

I’m sure you’ll be able to stomach the UK just enough for medical treatment when its required. Another selfish attitude of ex pats. Its ok when it suits them.

Obviously the UK is good for 2 things then isnt it.

And as for throwing accusations around without any proof whatsoever just goes to prove that you are just another ā– ā– ā– ā–  portal in a country full of them.

Have a nice day.

Darby Flyer,

Firstly I will not bite by being called an ā€œā– ā– ā– ā–  portalā€. You have clearly forgotten that we live in the EU, this gives all of us the right to work wherever we chose to.

Secondly, I use an E111 for health care in the UK should it be needed, even though I now pay UK NI & Tax again. At no time since moving to Spain have I ever been a medical tourist to the UK.

Thirdly, if I did need medical attention the UK with its filthy germ ridden hospitals is the very last place I would go to by choice.

Fourthly, even if I did decide to visit the UK for medical treatment, I think that by having served ten years in the British Army and paid into the system for over thirty years prior to leaving that I am bloody well entitled to it.

And finally. dont you just love it when a thread starts becoming abusive.

if this thread becomes abusive it will be locked.

now as far as im concerned hombre has admitted he is wrong over his acusation over the stobart thing so keep the thread on topic or it will go. :exclamation: :exclamation: :exclamation: :exclamation: :exclamation:

Its always anti-stobart this, anti-stobart that…why the hell would anyone want to nick number plates and cut airlines? If i needed a filler cap I would just go to one of our 20+ depots and get one!

And I think its sad when I walk into a room full of drivers at an RDC and they all go stum…or I pass you and you dont flash me in, or ignore me when I flash you in…most of you dont even know why nobody likes Stobarts!

Get with the times will you…Eddie jacked it in ages ago,

We have the same licences and conditions as the rest of you, do the same job in the same crappy conditions, so stop trying to put us down all the time.

We dont run bent like some on here, we arent involved in a motorway crash everyday like the foreigners, we dont run old sheds…we are the nations most famous and popular haulage firm, and I for one am proud to ā€œlive the dream in the Big Green Machineā€

it was a great experience dreva and one i wouldn’t swap for anything,
i was just wanting to point out that we don’t have the monopoly on everything bad that the euro boys like to make out we have.
and yes given the choice i’d drive over the water rather than here anytime

Simply because I inconvenienced him by parking in such a way that it required him to use the steering wheel to leave the layby.

If anything required the use of a steering wheel and a brain, i very much doubt it was a stobart driver :bulb: you said you drive in europe, does your truck have euro signage? this would make it a ā€˜target’ for anyone (in this country), unfortunately :frowning:

And this Stobart Driver has held clean Class One for 18 years…6 years on European (Spain, Italy, Germany, Poland) 18 months on North African (Morocco, Tunisia) 4 years on 11 car transporters and 3 years on heavies, so I reckon my steering wheel and brain skills are far superior to yours pal!

Hook line and sinker I think

OK ā€˜Hombre’ has held his hands up and apologised for blaming the ā€˜Stobart’ driver for the wanton vandalism done to his vehicle and the subsequent hassle and cost it obviously caused him and his employer. Now if anyone on here can truthfully say that they haven’t had a ā€˜red mist’ moment and blamed somebody for some kind of incident  I don’t believe it :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

A similar kind of thing happened to me & a mate in London when he persuaded me to stop in digs for once. We were driving Foden S80’s and when we parked up at Bishopsgate, (The Ramp) as it was known then, another S80, an 8 wheeler, from a big national agrigultural/feedstuff tipper company came and parked alongside us. We got talking and we all went over to ā€˜Gina’s’ on Bethnal Green Rd;, confirmed mine and my mate’s digs, and all had our tea together. We then all went for a few glasses of the local brew and to watch the talent? that took their clothes off in nearly every pub along that road at the time and eventually we said ā€˜see ya’ to our new found friend? who was sleeping in his cab.
The next morning when we returned to our lorries my mate’s motor had been stripped of everything that could be taken right down to the left hand side of the dashboard!!! WTF :imp:

Did we blame ā€˜our new found friend’ who knew we were both in digs that night
Course we ā€˜flippin’ did :unamused: :unamused:

BTW does anyone remember that big fleet of blue & yellow tippers from the Fen’s might have been 'Wilsons? but it’s that long ago the memory is fading. It stopped my mate going in digs again after that incident and I’d never really been into sleeeping in the same room as about 6/8 other blokes snoring, belching, ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā–  and talking to themselves allnight

Mmmn, I recall reading another thread recently calling for truckers to unite to fight for whatever the latest gripe happens to be…

I think the unity thing might be your downfall
