Somewhere to eat near J10 M6

Hi guys, on Friday me and the family are on a bit of a road trip from Bridgwater to Chester, as we are going to Chester Zoo on Saturday. We have been watching ‘The secret life of the zoo’ on tv and my five year old daughter is absolutely fascinated by it. She loves animals and has been particularly taken with Chester Zoo as featured in the program, and really wants to go there. I must say, it does look like a great zoo. So the hotel is booked and on Friday afternoon we’re off!
Anyway, on the way up we are going to need to stop for something to eat. I don’t really want to stop at the services as they are a complete rip off. This is where you guys come in! I estimate that after about a couple of hours, we will be somewhere near J10 on the M6, Walsall, and we will all be getting a little hungry. Is there anywhere near this junction such as a Harvester or something similar that we could stop at and get something half decent to eat?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers, Nick.

Kfc at junction 9

Wetherspoons Wednesbury or willenhall

The only thing I can see is a KFC.

Crack on up to junction 10 a. Go across m54 to junction 2. Turn right on to standeford road. Keep going straight on you’ll come across standeford farm house…it is a truck stop but they do decent breakfasts and it’s not extortionate either.

Toby at Burnt tree Island, Dudley.

Going North come off at M5 jct 2, go up A4123 about 3 miles big junction huge Toby across the Island, when you leave turn left out of gate onto A461 which will take you straight up to Black Country route A 41, rejoin M6 at jct 10.
I’ve had many a night out parked just round the corner in Conigree (or summat like that) road in years gone by, it was then one of the better Toby’s so hopefully still ok.

Best of luck travelling on Friday afternoon…shudder.

Top pub good food not too bad priced right next to J9 .

Went to Chester Zoo 2 weeks ago glad we booked online £20 each instead of £28 on the gate.

The Spread Eagle off J12 is a good eatery, always busy

Wow, thanks for all the quick replies! Bound to be able to find something from all the suggestions. Had a look at The Chestnut Tree and looks ok, plus it’s just off the motorway. Just hope the usual Friday traffic isn’t too bad. Hopefully be leaving Bridgwater about 3ish providing we can get the kids out of school early! That way, there will be no rush. As long as we all get to eat at a sensible time, it doesn’t really matter when we get to the hotel. Although after a few hours of the kids getting bored in the back of the car, I’ll want to get there sooner rather than later!

Just a thought,Friday afternoon up the M6 to Chester :open_mouth: could always go M54 J3 and A41 to Chester,we came back that way seemed a lot quicker than M6/M56/M53.

Good thinking that man, plus there’s 50mph road works from 18 onwards which is bound to turn to hell on Friday.

Juddian and Daytrunker’s spot on M54 off at Jcn 3 turn right 1 mile on left hand side is the Bell Pub,next to a garage, food spot on and you are past all the crap on the M6, I would go this way even if you have already eaten.

J11 exit onto A460, 4th exit right down past the M6 Fuel station. Subway on right past the traffic lights. 3rd exit onto M54 then off at J3, 1st exit, down the A449, past the lights, across the island, at the next smaller island (past the speed camera) turn left. Traffic lights just past the bridge turn right, McBellas cafe, closes about 2 i think, absolutely incredible pulled pork after 11:30. Huge bap with all the trimmings for £2.50. Bit truckstopy though so tread carefully with the wife (spoons in water type thing).

Keep crossing islands on the same route (after the left at the last island) and you’ll reach a McDonalds, and pass a KFC I think.

Exit M6 J9, 3rd exit right, stay left and follow slip road left. Under the underpass, 3rd exit island, then 3rd exit next island, IKEA with restaurant, 4th exit a restaurant called the Chestnut Tree, recommended. Cross that island, turn right at the next, then double back at the mini island at the top (so mecca bingo ends up on your left), on-road HGV parking. Few spots.

There’s also the lovely City of Wolverhampton! I can recommend a free ■■■■■■■■■■■■ within the ring road but not on a public forum. Also M6 J11 turn left not right. Straight across the island, down past the houses. 4th exit almost back on your self retail park with a Maccies.

Another +1

M6 from J15 > J20 on a Friday afternoon a total joke at the moment with the roadworks at Holmes Chapel, especially if some numpty breaks down.

The Hollies truckstop welcomes everyone, families included, the meals are cooked quickly, good choice and value for money,
Junction 12 M6, open 24 hours.
